NC Gov. Bev Perdue “jokes”: Let’s cancel congressional elections for a few years

The News-Observer claims in their headline that she was “joking” but I think that’s because they can’t quite believe a sitting governor would be so stupid as to say this publicly. In fact, in the story itself they note, “It’s unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious — but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea.”

Hey, you know what would vastly improve American politics? Much less public accountability.

“You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. It’s a little bit more contentious now but it’s not impossible to try to do what’s right in this state. You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

One has to wonder what exactly these people in the inner circle of things actually say to each other when we the people are not listening. I would be willing to bet that we just heard one of those view points.

They want it so, so bad. I am willing to bet that we start hearing more and more of this as time progresses toward our national presidential election. Tie in the flash mobs, various groups continue to ratchet up the rhetoric, past things that Obama has said, the antics of congress, and you have a potential for these people to do some very desperate things. This is how dictatorships or totaltitalitarian regimes are established.

I like not what I see.

If you dont have one now, start thinking about the purchase of a high capacity 9mm Glock 17 or Glock 19, a dozen or so extra mags, get one for your significant other if that one is lost or stolen and a Remington model 870 marine magnum in 12 ga with at least 500 rounds of buckshot and a similar number or rounds of birdshot.

Id also opt for one of those black stock, black finish Ruger 10-22s with at least five of the new factory made ruger 25 round (I think) mags. Theyere cheap to practice with, virtually no recoil and if the bolsheviks begin rioting one can knee cap a commie from a fair distance and walk away into the night.

Also, your wife could easily control a loaded 10-22 in case of a home invasion. There’s relatively little downside if you are careful out there.

The progressives will lose a taste for rioting shortly after they see moon and Sunshine “Che” Guevara Smith-Johnson III being wheeled off to the free clinic with a few bullets just under the fat in their ass cheeks and screaming line someone was trying to make them take a shower and wear clear underwear and no facial jewelry.
And just think how fun the show will be!

Dark Waters,

She was not joking.

You are right. This is how they talk among themselves. As hard as it may be to believe, they really believe this fantasy world that they have created in their own minds.

The rot, political corruption and outright theft of public money by the Democrats here in North Carolina would take your breath away. We have had a house speaker in jail, a former Governor charged and the current Governor being investigated. Still it is small time corruption compared to Washington.

Bev Perdue is one of the most witless airheads that I have even seen in public office. It is now an obvious tactic for the power elite to put the village idiot in office so they can run them from behind the scenes.

Dark Waters, Your observations are chilling and I believe accurate.

The writing is on the wall IMO the left can see a tsunami coming and their days in power are about to end. the only way their wet Marxist dream will continue is to take unconstitutional control! What they really need is a damn good crisis so they can suspend the elections!

They will keep floating these ideas until we become numb to them.

People will laugh, call them crazy and eventually ignore them, until they wake up one morning and realize........They have done it!

Stay vigilant speak out, if necessary act out, but do not become numb to this, that is their way, their plan

I doubt she was joking - in fact, I've begun to hear this theme running through the Progressives' public pronouncements for a while now, from Obama on down:

The public is ignorant, foolish and short-sighted. Voters do not understand what is best for them and must be "nudged" by professional politicians and bureaucrats - through regulations and taxes - to make better decisions.

And if we (their social superiors) can't get them to make better choices, perhaps they need to be "encouraged" a bit more... directly. What a wonderful, perfect New World we could achieve!... if it weren't for the dumb, hick voters - especially those ignorant Tea Party dolts clinging to their God and guns...

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress...”
— Gov. Bev Perdue, Ohio, Democrat, maybe a puppet, floating the idea out to the public a year before the 2012 elections, but then “only joking”...

Interesting to juxtapose the comments of Federal Judge Alex Kozinski on the same topic as raised by Ms Purdue:
“The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed — where the government refuses to stand for re-election and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees… However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake free people get to make only once.”
— Federal Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th Circuit Court, 2003

I live in a very densely populated area so I don't think I could ever have enough. If the nasty stuff hits the fan blades and I don't have an alternative route out to the country side then or before, I doubt I will fair to well. It is the tyranny of big numbers. The other part of the problem is that should we collectively lose our minds, at some point our enemies across the pound will see an opportunity they cannot pass up, and take us out. We won't last long as a country if we lose it. MIRV’d warheads trump conventional arms any day of the year.

People drunk on power create the most insane ideas and enforce them with a ruthlessness that tops the last group of dastardly scoundrels that came before them. In there minds, only they are right and everyone else is wicked and evil. The pure unadulterated hubris escapes them, unfortunately we have a very dumbed down citizenry that is used to acting a certain way in order to get their daily bread from the same bunch of fools. They know this and are actively seeking to keep power firmly entrenched in their hands. The cancer has spread so far, and so wide that it really scares me. They are trying to make their move. Whether they succeed or it peters out I don’t know. That said I tend to side with the belief that they will succeed just based on what I know of history and how rotten our culture as really become. I believe it was Orweal(paraphrasing) who said that when one lives in an age where deception is universal, the truth becomes a revolution act.
