I guess Obama’s bureaucrats think that Americans will believe everything that the government says. LOL! Sorry Barry. It ain’t happening here.

“Many months ago, Stuart Varney said on FoxNews that 200k new jobs per week would be required to just to get to the ‘break even’ point.”

The number of new jobs needed each month has to be more than the total number of new (legal and illegal) immigrants coming into the country, plus the number of births over deaths, just in order to stay even at the dismal place which we are at.

If our population increases by 2 1/2 million each year (200,000 new jobs per month) , then creating 2 1/2 million new jobs are needed just to tread water.

There are plenty of good available jobs out there that are unfilled, just sitting there waiting for someone to apply. There must be, else why would we need to bring in millions more immigrant workers, each and every year?

You forgot your sarc tag.

391,000 new unemployed this week. Who would celebrate this "exciting" new number? A sadist, or a radical who's trying to get as many people as he can dependent on government handouts.
This is NOT good news, unless you're a miserable leftist who likes to see other people made as miserable as you are.
2012 just can't come soon enough!

I'd like to know how this country can lose 400,000 jobs every week and still have 9.1% unemployment. More + more should = more!

yup ... the lowest figures for growth of the work force I have seen were 150,000 per month. Add in 125,000 new legal workers brought into the country each month and you get ~ 225,000 new jobs each month just to tread water.

And that's without adding jobs for illegal aliens.

What’s the U6 rate going do? That’s the real question and a better indicator.

Easy ... just keep bumping people out of the civilian labor force using an 'enhancement' in the sorting out of the data collected by the BLS, introduced under Clinton and continued under Bush.

If this is the case we don’t need the Fed to introduce more stimulus correct. /sarcasm

Well, good luck with that...
we’ve been in that situation the last two out of four Christmas seasons...it absolutely sucks...as we go into this holiday with a job, my stomach is still in knots just because...
I keep reminding myself that despite O’bummer et al, this IS the greatest country in the world and given ability, friends and opportunity, you can persevere!
Again best of luck....

“Initial Claims Beats By Multiple Standard Deviations As BLS Revisions Jump Again

We grow weary of reporting the consistent statistical anomaly that is the prior revision UP in the initial jobless claims. Headlines will read of the impressive job ‘improving’ situation as initial claims fell 37k on the week (a two standard deviation improvement which seems extremely unlikely given the macro/micro backdrop). Once again proving their ineptitude, the claims print was massively better than even the most optimistic economist estimate - an incredible six standard deviations better than consensus...”

a variety of "technical" issues...

Translation: We cooked the crap out of the books but we couldn't get it any lower than that. It'll be revised upward to 420K later, very quietly.

“but a government official suggested the surprising drop may have stemmed from a variety of “technical” issues not captured by normal seasonal adjustments.”

Like not being able to add or what?

Like using an old fashioned, water cooled, electric calculator that can't compute numbers that high!

Upward adjustment is surely to come, given the “technical”(?) issues!

Fewer employed people = fewer people to lay off.
