Christie seriously considering presidential bid after GOP prodding (The Big Tease again)
NYPost ^ | Thursday September 29, 2011 | JOSH MARGOLIN

After months of hedging, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is giving serious thought to jumping into the ring for a GOP presidential run -- and could make his decision next week, The Post has learned.

The announcement may come as soon as Monday, said sources familiar with Christie’s thinking.

The renewed consideration about a White House run came after prodding this week from some Republicans he idolizes, including former First Lady Nancy Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former President George W. Bush, sources said.

[..]

Christie pals said the pol’s “mind-blowing” experience at the Reagan library in California Tuesday changed his thinking.

“We need you. Your country needs you to run for president,” one woman pleaded after Christie’s moving speech there.

Yet when the governor first arrived at the Reagan library, he was still telling his inner circle he was a definite “no” for a presidential run -- and planned to make that clear in his appearance.

Something changed that night, sources said.

Sorry he is not conservative and any Freeper worth his salt knows this.

He's good enough for me compared to Romney or Perry. I think it's sad we have to turn to a rookie, but the GOP is devoid of qualified proven leadership. Not my fault.

Conservative Leadership has nothing to do with compromise.

Ronald Reagan disagrees with you.

Obama even understands this I said: “I won deal with it.”

Yeah, that's worked out well. lol.

Who is backing Cain and Palin?

Cain is the one running. Let's stick with reality for now. And he's not a credible candidate.

It is a battle between the elites and We The People simple as that.

No, it's a battle to find a competent leader who can get us to deal with our immediate existential threat, which is our fiscal mess. Mr. 9-9-9 isn't the guy.

As it stands today, I believe Romney will win. I'd prefer Christie if he runs, even though I really want him to stay here in NJ.

“He is a very conservative governor of New Jersey.
But New Jersey ain’t the whole country... he’s not conservative enough for the whole country.”

Christie = Southern Democrat

We sure can come a lot closer than Christie.

>> On the contrary, it was a very good speech.

With all the emphasis on compromise given the Left’s militant march to Socialism, the style of the speech is irrelevant.

Look who's pushing this guy...Kissinger, Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, GW and other “blue bloods”. This guy wants to “compromise” with the RATS, blames Congress (not the RATS) for our problems. He's stated on Lou Dobbs that he didn't believe those who came here illegally are committing a crime.

The Democrats will be running against the Tea Party saying they are those extreme Republicans. What would Christie’s response be to that? Would it not be better to nominate someone that best articulates the TP view and even how it differs from the political elites? Sarah and Herman would be able to best articulate that without fear and with courage. If they want to run against the Tea Party lets take them on, and defeat them. Let the “We The People” speak again as they did in 2010.

Please stop toying with delicate northeastern liberal Republican emotions like this, you big tease. You're gonna make them cry.

It's too late anyhow, we've been hearing that for months. Drop a hundred pounds, get out into the rest of the country for a few years to get a little experience, get some international experience as well, work on that awful Jersey accent and then maybe you'll be ready to take Romney's place as perennial establishment fave in 2016.

So now we have to go through this every day, as if we didn't do it yesterday, the day before that, the day before that.....

Palin isn’t running and I won’t support Herman Cain for the nomination.

Then you will allow someone else to choose your candidate hope it works out for you. The above two have your interests at heart and will not be bought because they are not for sale.

And he’s too fat.

I don't have a problem with him being fat. I really don't believe it has anything to do with being lazy, and sometimes it's not even eating too much. However, the man was out of breath just walking to the podium, he would be dead half way through the primary. We've all seen the toll that is taken on people on the campaign trail. Those who are urging him to run really don't care if he ends up dead or permanently in a wheelchair. Personally, I don't care one way or the other, he'll just pull the liberal vote from Mitt and we can elect who we want.

He “idolizes” Kissinger and Bush. This guy is dangerous. He’ll cut Romney down to size, however.

Good speech? I suppose if you liked Obama back in 2008. Like Obama’s speeches then, it was full of generalities and feel good rhetoric. You can search and search to find a specific policy stand in it.
