“Who told you that ...”
First he is no conservative...
Who told me? He did... heard it from his lips during one of his badmouthing social conservatives rants
Oh forgot to mention he is pro amnesty too
You heard Chris Christie say that he’s not pro-life and that he’s pro-same-sex-marriage? You must be confusing him with some other fat guy.
Had you called Christie a gun-grabber, you’d be on much firmer ground, since his record on guns leaves a lot to be desired, but Christie is a solid conservative with respect to abortion and traditional marriage.
As for amnesty, you are correct that Christie wants to establish a path to citizenship for illegal aliens, although he wants them to stand “in the back of the line” (but doesn’t quite say that they should not be allowed to apply for residency unless they move back to their home countries) and he opposes giving tuition breaks to illegals like they do in Texas. Maybe calling Christie “pro-amnesty” is a bit strong, but you can certainly argue that anything short of having illegals go back to their home countries and then applying for residency is a form of amnesty.
Christie ain’t perfect, but I’d still take him over Romney or Perry. Would I prefer Herman Cain or Rick Santorum (not to mention Jim DeMint or Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio) as president? Of course! But unless a conservative can (i) win the nomination and (ii) beat Obama, he or she won’t get to be president. Turning one’s nose up at Christie could well result in Romney winning the nomination, and that’s one thing that would piss me off a lot more than nominating someone like Christie that has a lot of excellent qualities (along with a few bad issue positions).
