White House Quotes Romney in Defense of Health Care
FoxNews ^ | Sept. 29, 2011 | Sarah Courtney

Posted on 09/29/2011 8:11:08 PM PDT by Clairity

It's not every day that you see Jay Carney quoting Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney from the White House podium.

But that's what Carney did Thursday as reporters pressed for the president's reaction to the Affordable Care Act heading to the Supreme Court before the 2012 election amid questions about its constitutionality.

Carney's quoting served the dual purpose of defending the president and trying to drive a wedge between Romney and some of his Republican rivals, who have charged that the former Massachusetts governor's health reform law on the state level bears too much of a resemblance to the plan that conservatives derisively call "Obamacare."

"A former governor of Massachusetts just said the other day, 'The idea for a health care plan in Massachusetts was not mine alone,'" Carney said, reading from notes as he continued quoting Romney. "'The Heritage Foundation, a great conservative think tank, helped on that. I'm told that Newt Gingrich, one of the very first people who came up with the idea of an individual mandate, did that years and years ago. It was seen as a conservative idea to say, you know what, people have a responsibility for caring for themselves if they can. We'll help people who can't care for themselves, but if you can care for yourself, you've got to take care of yourself and pay your own bills.'"

Without ever mentioning Romney by name, Carney concluded, "That's the former governor of Massachusetts describing the individual mandate and why it's smart policy, and we certainly agree."

I'm stupid just because I have an opinion? I say what I mean, and mean what I say. If Romney is the nominee (which I doubt), I will not vote.

I agree with you except I would amend it to say that, I'll still vote, just not for Romney or Obama.

Newb? What are you, 12?

It’s simple. If you are part of the conservative base and you don’t support the Republican, you are HELPING evil. It doesn’t matter how much you agree with Romney or whoever the candidate might be.

It’s simple. If you are part of the conservative base and you don’t support the eventual Republican nominee, you are HELPING evil. It doesn’t matter how much you agree with Romney or whoever the candidate might be. The country will nominate somebody who is a lot more conservative than Obama. It’s that simple.

You’re not stupid because you have an opinion. You’re stupid because you can’t see the vast canyon of ideological difference that lies between Obama and Romney.

I don’t even like Romney. This is just a discussion of the obvious at this point.

And those differences would be?

Yep! Always start an intelligent debate by insulting your potential foe in the discussion. Sorry, just because I can’t agree with you doesn’t, in itself, make me stupid.

I guess I could say the same about you. You don’t agree with me, don’t see my point of view ... therefore you are stupid.

I personally believe that Mitt is the white version of Obama. But an open and non-insulting discussion would have been both fun and informative.

I guess I’m just to stupid to understand your logic.

Signed;

Stupid

Bullcrap. If the Republican is evil, I won't help him.

I won't vote for Romney. You can't browbeat me into it. You can't scare me into. I don't give a rat's pointy little tail about anything you say to try to get me to vote for Romney.

I'm NOT voting for Romney. Period.

I’m not trying to scare you. I’m simply pointing out that if you are conservative and don’t support the more conservative candidate, then you are deliberately helping the more liberal candidate. If you don’t understand the difference between the more conservative candidate and the more liberal candidate, then you’re an idiot.

It’s one of the two. Your choice.

False choice, slick.

I choose to help NO liberal. Regardless of party, R or D.

And you pitch around that idiot label pretty freely on the other side of the screen. I'll bet your taffy ass wouldn't call me an idiot to my ugly TSgt face.

Your mouth may write a check that your ass might not be able to cover.

Flyboys don’t scare me. Few people do.

You have chosen the second option, by the way.

Nope, slick. I chose the 3rd way.

Avoid and prep.

Because me, and a lot of people like me will not vote for Romney, no matter what.

Sticks in your craw, don't it, boy?

And you're welcome to come call me an idiot to my face. Keyboard warrior.
