Visiting Clinton and US Defense Minister Leon Panetta in Washington this week, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr warned that passage of the bill would be "detrimental to future cooperation" between the countries, according to a senior Egyptian official.
We called on them to intervene, The Washington Post quoted the Egyptian official as saying. He added that Clinton and Panetta know the value of the partnership between the United States and Egypt."
Clinton expressed opposition to the bill, saying in a Wednesday press conference that she "will be working very hard . . . to convince the Congress that that is not the best approach to take.
She added: We support the democratic transition, and we dont want to do anything that in any way draws into question our relationship or our support.
That should only be a concern if they are not planning to have a (classic) liberal democracy.
I have reread a couple of times...
Does that mean they think we should hand them money no matter what they do?! Am I misunderstanding this...holy moley!
*jaw on desk*
Why would Egypt have a problem with this unless their goal is to not be a democracy. If that is the case we should not be sending them money. Truly we should not be anyway.

Cripes! Where’s the hand brake?! We are going to crash and burn, hard.
The ruling class has not been bred for brains.
Sounds like a threat to me .... along the lines of the Muslim belief, as instructed by the Koran, that infidels can be permitted to co-exist if they pay the extra tax ... the protection money. Well, if it were up to me I'd give them nothing. Screw them !
We’ve been doing that for decades.
Time to stop.
