Cain: Perry camp sign 'just plain insensitive' (Cain pulls the race card)
MSNBC ^

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain criticized the name of a hunting camp once leased by Gov. Rick Perry's family as "just plain insensitive" in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain criticized the name of a hunting camp once leased by Gov. Rick Perry's family as "just plain insensitive" in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. The name of the camp — "Niggerhead" — was first reported by the Washington Post on Saturday. The paper said the name was painted on a rock at the entrance of the property. Perry reportedly began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at the secluded ranch early in his career. The offensive phrase has been painted over, but the Post's sources and the Perry campaign differ on when that was done. The Post reports that the name can still be seen through the paint. "My reaction is, that's just very insensitive," Cain told Fox. "[There] isn't a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country."

Cain lost me by jumping on the bandwagon before he knew what he was talking about!

I was hoping these two would work together too. the fact Cain said he could not support Perry kinda made me think he was doing his part for Romney. Now after this, I think he kinda blew it. He was number 2 for me. Now if Perry falls I guess I will fall dutifully in line and support Romney to beat Obama.Of course there is always Newt.

You’re sure Christie is getting in, but you don’t think Palin will?

Were you ever bussed? My brother, who is white, sat in an auditorium full of blacks as the teacher shouted "now you white kids know what its like to be a minority" and all the black kids started shouting and laughing and clapping. My brother wasinthe 7th grade and this was 1987.

You can take that crap your shoveling and shovel it elsewhere.

I have plenty of stories I could tell you like that.

I agree. It’s a nasty word — and even though it may have other literal meanings, what it means to MOST people, and especially most black people — is something entirely different and degrading.

I’m giving Cain a pass. His life story is anything but that of a race baiter. I think he replied in a natural and honest way. I don’t believe he “pulled the race card” because someone was denegrating his policies, or his accomplishments — as people of the Al Sharpton crazy camp tend to do.

I am with you.

Herman was ambushed and he responded as any decent person would. I find the term offensive too, along with other ethnic slurs, even though I am one of the most “politically incorrect” people around.

Even though I am all for free speech and artistic expression, I can’t stand a movie where every other word is the “F” Word. Does that make me a Liberal for heavens sake?

We are beginning to see the Bachmannization of Mr. Cain by Perry supporters.......

and we are beginning to see the Palinization of Mr Cain by the press. All this infighting is exactly what they want. Then they can prop up their man Romney and then, guess what, 4 more years of Obama. Wake up people.

So the Right’s Black candidate is pretty much the same as Al Sharpton? How about we elect a better candidate than Cain!

Cain was a radio talking head for years and he has not realized the lying media hacks will do anything to dump on a Conservative? That dog don’t hunt, my Racebaitor radar has been tingling about Cain for a while, he was good on Radio but his performance in the debates has been subpar, IMO.

Ok Perry supporters; How is “Niggerhead” NOT insensitive to race?

You can take that crap your shoveling and shovel it elsewhere.

Your reaction to what I said is just as ridiculous as the bussing policy was--classic overreaction. You don't fix racism by punishing white children. And you don't equate the experience of a black person who grew up in 1950's American with a white kid who suffered a brief humiliating experience in the 80's. There's simply no comparison.

This is disappointing. PERRY’S FATHER PAINTED OVER THE ROCK A GENERATION AGO.

This is insulting and scummy.

I’m re-accessing my support for Cain.

Was Cain told that part?

I don’t know.

I’ve gotten over my initial shock. I’m not going to worry about it.

Cain went down a notch for me, Perry went up a notch because of the way he was smeared. I’m content.

Perry has gone from my 3rd choice to 2. Cain has gone from 2nd choice, to third. I await more data.

Sorry I got nothing.

:)

I’ve looked into a bit more and it seems that Hermans’ sin was not “playing the race card” but was when he reacted to what a lefty media person said w/o verifying it.

It’s still early in election cycle.

I’ve only joined one ping list, and that’s Cain.

You’re right the media is mostly driving the agenda.

Cain has attacked Perry 3 times”

I’m not sure if I would bother with Perry at this time. He has pretty well committed suicide in this campaign; until he shows some sign of life, personally, if I were running a campaign, I’d leave him alone.

Romney is a massive frontrunner right now.

Unless someone stops him, he will be the nominee. (Of course, things can change rapidly, as this cycle has shown).

Perry does NOT own the hunting lease, does not have a ranch and did NOT write on the rock. This is nothing more than a hit piece and smear by Bachmann or Romney. Since Cain supports Romney, I am not surprised than he did not check out the information. Someone owes Perry an apology.

Yep the typical reply of losers “you are a newbie, noobie, or whatever stupid name calling”. Anyway shame on you because you accused Perry and other freepers that they are racists. The Race Card is for losers. You are a loser, and yeah I have been here since September 21 2011 and I am speaking the truth about you.
