Cain: Perry camp sign 'just plain insensitive' (Cain pulls the race card)
MSNBC ^

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain criticized the name of a hunting camp once leased by Gov. Rick Perry's family as "just plain insensitive" in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain criticized the name of a hunting camp once leased by Gov. Rick Perry's family as "just plain insensitive" in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. The name of the camp — "Niggerhead" — was first reported by the Washington Post on Saturday. The paper said the name was painted on a rock at the entrance of the property. Perry reportedly began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at the secluded ranch early in his career. The offensive phrase has been painted over, but the Post's sources and the Perry campaign differ on when that was done. The Post reports that the name can still be seen through the paint. "My reaction is, that's just very insensitive," Cain told Fox. "[There] isn't a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country."

At one time I thought highly of both Bachmann and Cain.

Then Bachmann went into meltdown and Cain had a major brain fart and pulled out the old liberal race card.

Thank God we conservatives still have a solid candidate to turn to in Rick Perry.

Anyone who’s FOLLOWING Cain knows that the race card is the last thing he needs. At this point, he’s just having fun keeping Perry and his people off-balance.

It’s a blast to watch.

I don't think Cain was slapping down the race card but responding to a direct question and, as a Black man, I don't think he could give any other answer. I probably would have said the same thing and I'm lily white.

I'd be extremely disappointed if Cain made a traditional race card play.

He endorsed Mittens in 08

And how many of us voted for McCain in 08?

Apparently not.

Character counts and we just found out what his is. Too bad, they are falling like flies. I don’t expect a saint but can’t abide by another sharp tongued racist as leader of the free world.

Lesson learned, go with your gut. My gut instinct told me that Cain is the wrong man when I heard his sing-song announcement address. My gut told me again he was the wrong man when he changed his style later and toned it down a bit.

If someone ran who would admit who and what he is would we vote for him?

“Cain is an establishment man.”

I wish somebody would tell that to the establishment. I think Ron Paul was getting more questions at the last three debates than Cain.

Cain is just channeling his inner Sharpton

I do think the N word is insensitive and I won’t use it. I’m white.

This is not a big deal to me. A big deal is a candidate that believes we should allow illegals to go the school on our tax dollar.

What is amazing is that the same folks that claim Perry is an “illegal lover” are now going to try to say that he is a racist LoL

The “n-word” may be, but a camp called Nigger-head, a word that has been in common use since before the Civil War, is definitely no big deal.

Texas doesn’t “give” in-state tuition. If you spend 3 full years in Texas high school, you qualify for in-state tuition. You have to pay it yourself.

Because this is the South and this is Texas and it isn’t against the law and we still have free speech.

Not me.

Perry lost me, over the “heartless” bumble.

I’m back now. This is scurrilous.

Cain and Perry could turn this around on the media left, very powerfully, if they would work together.

I hope they will. Otherwise Cain and the media, will be the losers here.

Perry just got a (hugh) second chance in this primary.

Cain should have said he wasn't interested in what people in Texas called a deer lease in the 1980’s. He should have asked why the questioner thought to ask for his reaction. He should have said he wanted to talk about his tax plan, or the European debt crisis, or the Middle East or anything important. He should have asked why the questioner wanted to talk about trivia as our country and the world teeter on the edge of disaster.

There are a lot of things Cain could have said. What he did say was scurrilous and indefensible. He was never a serious contender and he just demonstrated why.

There are taxes that I pay every year that goes for funding of State colleges and local real estate taxes to fund the K-12 public schools. “Pay For” tuition is supplemented by tax payer dollars.
