Occupy Wall Street (Observations)
American Rattlesnake ^ | October 2, 2011 | Gerard Perry

Posted on 10/02/2011 10:44:31 PM PDT by OddLane

One of the more intriguing aspects of New York City is the confluence, and at times, confrontation of different ideas and individuals that occur on a daily basis. Today I found myself observing and photographing this phenomenon in lower Manhattan, which has been the staging point for the protests staged by Occupy Wall Street for the past two weeks.

I don’t understand these people, They are socialists and anarchists with no plan to replace the crazy markets.

Why are the Markets crazy?
Its because we are over extended on trying to deliver social utopia

And failing.

I keep wondering what Cornel West means when he says we need to wage a "real" war on poverty.

What does he suggest the government do, shoot certificates of deposit at poor people from Apache attack helicopters?

The Hang Seng being down so badly tells me that demand for cheap goods is down.

The world is really tightening the belt now.

You know what he means.

He wants a class/race war.

Saw a bit of the Ken Burns show on Prohibition tonight, covering Carrie Nation. Something I never knew, she operated in Kansas which was legally dry, and all her forays were against blatantly illegal establishments. I guess this is why nobody seemed to oppose her.

But why am I saying this? Because her inspiration was the palpable scourge of alcohol. Men got paid on Saturday, and drank their paycheck the same day, staggering home to a despairing wife with her children. I guess not everbody did this, but how many does it take?

So, the whole focus of the time was in the other direction, socially - How to bring the miserable masses into line. Now we have the dissolute, overeducated, vagabond masses trying to tell the world how to behave. It’s an ill wind that blows no good.

LOL

Poor planning.

Hardly the time to ‘occupy’ the streets in NYC - season wise.

It’s getting dang right wet and cool in the daytime and decidedly cold - if you’re sleeping on the sidewalk - at night.

Let’s see how fast the crowd thins out as it gets colder.

Yep. Poor planning. But these people can’t think beyond one thought (and that given to them) at a time.

I spoke with a friend-who was on vacation-about this, and his theory is that the only thing that will really empty out Zuccotti Park at this point is a severe cold snap.

How is it that there seems to be no interest in how and by whom are all of these protests organized. I think it would be a good idea for Front Page or some other site to expose the people behind all these “spontaneous” demonstrations.

You reply to OddLane, in response to his/her question regarding Col. West:

You know what he means. He wants a class/race war.

I would seem that you either know NOTHING about Col. West and can't be bothered to find out (simple enough to do as he's the most interviewed freshman congressman and he doesn't speak "PC" so is very clear and informed on whatever he does speak - OR - you are being deliberately obtuse as you are afraid he may be induced to run and you have another candidate you're banking and are being deliberately disingenuous.

You Tube and his Face Book page will provide a plethora of information direct from Col. West.

He doesn't have a racial bone in this body. He has no need to play the race card. He has truth and intelligent thinking - and deep knowledge - on his side.

oops - I just realized the poster was referring to CORNEL, not COL. West.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Please accept my apology.

That said, at 3 a.m., it's way past time for this old gramma to hit the hay - or feathers, as the case is.

Have a good night.

There are a few main organizers.

One of them is Adbusters, a chic, anti-capitalist, anti-Semitic, anti-American glossy magazine.

Anonymous is another sponsor.

Of course, you have the Marxist National Lawyer's Guild, with their garish, neon green hats, in attendance.

And, of course, WikiLeaks was there:

Why they were there is anyone's guess.

When I spoke to the volunteers inside of the van, I was told that they were there to "support" Occupy Wall St.

I posted a thread on that earlier today. The movement is a communist one.

Just curious; When are they going to protest Barney Frank and Jamie Gorelick? Oh but that’s right; He gets re-elected and she gets off scot free after ripping off $25 mill.
