Country music singer Hank Williams Jr. compared President Obama to Adolph Hitler in an awkward interview Monday morning on Fox and Friends. Williams called the golf summit the president had with Speaker of the House John Boehner “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.” “It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu, OK?”
Williams appeared on the program to share his thoughts on politics, but the segment got weird early on as the country music star curiously sulked with his arms crossed.
Anchor Gretchen Carlson asked Williams who he liked in the GOP race, which he replied “Nobody.” A shocked Steve Doocy exclaimed, “Nobody!?”
This triggered Williams to bash Obama and Boehner’s golf game and compare the president to Hitler. All three Fox and Friends anchors sat nonplussed in utter bewilderment.
”Yeah, I don’t understand that analogy, actually,” responded a perplexed Brian Kilmeade.
“Well, I’m glad you don’t, brother, because a lot of people do,” Williams snapped. “You know, they’re the enemy. They’re the enemy.” Kilmeade was thrown for a loop. “Who’s the enemy?”
“Obama!” Williams thundered.
Following the bizarre interview, Carlson disavowed the comparison of the president to the Nazi leader. “I just want to say that we disavow any of those comments or analogies that he’s made, at least I’m going to say that, disavow the analogy between Hitler and the president.”

Their squirming at his comments are very telling. I’ll say it again: Fox is not conservative. They are just less liberal than CNN.

But I WOULD be a lot more comfortable with him comparing Obama with Mussolini. He’s really not very much like hitler (though his followers, in their attitudes, are very similar to hitler’s followers).

One thing for sure that he said was a fact. That “they’re the enemy”, meaning Obama, his administration, and his cohorts the libs. If you don’t think so, you haven’t been paying close enough attention.

It’ll be interesting to see how much “media” play this gets, vs. celebrity after celebrity equating Bush with Hitler, calling him a baby killer, openly calling for his assassination, producing a fantasy movie of his killing, etc.

There’s the rub. If I were Ann Couolter I might, in a live interview, compare him to Hitler in the same way williams did. That is, with a non-political analogy (like golf). Then when they call me on it I’d say, “HAHAHAHA, Did I say Hitler?! Laugh, snicker, snort!! I mean’t Mussolini!”
And then explain the tangible similarities. And they are legion.

Fox News is becoming a microcosm of modern U.S. society, all isolated up there in NYC. The people working there are inundated with liberal orthodoxy from grade school through college. They drink at the same bars with the other unwashed liberal fools after work. It was a matter of time before Fox was transformed into a mirror of its surroundings.

Obviously not many, otherwise they'd understand that the economic goals and policies of Obama and the economic policies followed by Mussolini are very much the same. The US economy has morphed toward fascism and the last wall against it, Liberty, is being predictably eroded by the administrative organs of the regime (see: EPA, Dept. of Energy, Boeing, Gibson Guitars, Comcast(NBC purchase). This coming election is "IT". It will be Liberty or Fascism.

I think it was great how Hank tweaked the Fox and Friends crew. They were all looking for off-stage clues as to what to do. Kilmeade looked like he was about to soil his drawers. it was a little over the top, but then that’s Hank Wlliams Jr. They had to know that going in.
Carlson is more wrong and Hank is more right.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Limbaugh got canned for crossing the pc line also.
Anyhow, I get his analogy. He was saying that he found the idea that people who would have been mortal enemies, “Hitler and Netanyahu”, would act chummy together to be unseemly and repugnant. He sees them as two faces of same coin, playing some sort of game with the public. He probably should have used better words to express his disgust. But, Hank Williams has never been one to mince words.
All things considered, this was a terrible interview for Hank Williams. It started off very stand-offish and continued in that manner for the rest of the interview. This is a morning show with light weight hosts, not really intended for serious or combative politics. So, his demeanor on this occasion was out of place. If his intent was to promote his career or his father’s music, he probably did neither a great service.
Regardless, I like Hank Williams and I think his honesty is refreshing. Even though I may agree with his general critique of our current political leaders, he probably should have chosen a different venue to make these remarks. It will be interesting to see if this causes him a problem with his NFL gig.
