NEW YORK ...........The details of Cain's 15-minute presentation to 500 or more movers and shakers in the Big Apple were considered "off the record," but WND can report that after the presentation, Cain received a standing ovation from the assembled crowd.
......Cain drew parallels to former President George H.W. Bush, who in 1980 lost the nomination to Ronald Reagan but signed on to become his vice president:
"If it is the right nominee, someone that I can respect and that I believe I can work with," Cain said of accepting the vice presidential nomination, "then I would obviously seriously consider it."
The candidate refused to retract his recent criticism of Texas Gov. Rick Perry over a racial profanity found on property the Perry family often used, but he also dismissed the ensuing controversy:
"I made a statement and I stand by it," Cain said. "However long that was on that rock was insensitive. I am done with that issue. I am not going to go back and dig it up. I don't believe that the 'N' word on that rock represents in any way how Governor Perry feels about black people. I am not going to fan that flame because I don't believe there is any fire."

Cain also rejected concerns about the "legal propriety" surrounding the recent killing of al-Qaida leader Anwar al-Awlaki, who was an American citizen:
"If you had a convicted murder in this country who escaped from prison, the fact that he was an American citizen and escaped from prison, would you not shoot him?" Cain asked.

Good luck trying to sell people that Cain is really pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-Romney, etc.
You Perrybots are getting quite desperate because your own candidate is such a disaster, calling his own conservative base a bunch of heartless racists and barely able to coherently string two sentences together in a debate.
You guys really shouldn’t be so worried though. All the money from his well-heeled cheap-Mexican-labor financial backers will be able to buy his way through for a while, so Rick ain’t going anywhere.
Absolutely correct! Thankfully Perry’s also going nowhere in this race. He’s been exposed for the nanny state promoting idiot that he is. He makes Obama look intelligent, and he (Obama) is a moron. At least he can parrot his handler’s talking points. I’ve seen teenagers whine and yell “Not fair!” better than Perry. He gets worse with each debate performance, and looks like the biggest doofus politics has ever seen, and I’ve seen some whoppers!
The 9-9-9 plan is meant to be a transition to the FairTax. I personally think that the 9-9-9 is a horrible plan (Trying to unite the Flat taxers and FairTaxers isn’t going to work), but at least he has a plan other than “Tax the rich!”
I wanted to buy The Undefeated at Walmart online and...IT’S OUT OF STOCK!
Amazing how easily Romney co-opted the “true conservatives” who are appearing anything but.
Sorry herman, I won’t vote for that ticket.
Yes, let’s celebrate Romney leading the field. The sad thing is that I watched conservatives, well they claim to be conservative, do this to thompson too only with him it was that he didn’t have a “fire in his belly”, too tired, too old, not outspoken faith on his sleeve even if he was a Christian and then we got McCain. Stupid party maybe but the conservative movement isn’t too far behind.
Yea, it really IS pretty hard to sell people ANYTHING about Cain since he has absolutely no political record to stand on and his actions and words don’t always match.
You and I BOTH could go out on the net and find that Cain SAID this or that, and then we could find that Cain DID something that did not match what we felt he had said.
I don’t NEED to convince anyone that Cain is pro-life or not. He says he is prolife and then won’t sign the pro-life pledge. What should I make of that? Who knows.
I don’t NEED to convince anyone what Herman Cain would do as far as homosexual judges. He says it’s a sin. Then he stands by the fact he would appoint a homosexual judge. What should I make of that? Who knows.
He says Perry is insensitive. Then he says he’ll stand by that. Then he says it was the rock that was insensitive. Then he says he won’t back down on Perry. What should I make of that? Who knows.
How could I try to “sell people” anything. I have no CLUE what I would even SELL them on as far as Cain is concerned!
And I bet you will have a hard time “selling” people on anything Cain REALLY stands for either since there is so much inconsistency there and no actual political record to be his proof in the political pudding.
A question, if I may.
Why is the MSM and the Left working so hard to derail Rick Perry?
It sounds like Romney and Cain are both “flexible.”
And most of them probably are yours.
Face it, if you were a lib, you would not take kindly to your head constantly exploding over Herman Cain's digs at your Messiah, His Royal Stinkiness Patrice Lumumba Obongo.
I’m going to give you the God’s honest truth, but as I have seen from post after post you and the truth are not well acquainted (as for example your claim that Perry does not support amnesty, when he is on record as favoring legalizing the illegals).
Rick Perry’s problem at the moment is NOT the MSM and the Left. Rick Perry’s problem at the moment is with the conservative base. Do you get that?
There are two reasons for this.
1. His performance at the debates did not inspire confidence in people that he is quick on his feet or an articulate advocate for conservative positions. In this respect he is reminiscent of another past Texas governor whom the Democrats wish they could travel back in time and run against.
2. His position on the illegals is anathema to conservatives.
I’ve said this repeatedly that what Rick needs to do is sincerely and credibly repudiate and reverse his position on this whole illegals business.
He would be better off running as a flip-flopper than as pro-illegals.
As long as he doesn’t do this, I expect him to be a weak candidate. I’m not saying that he is incapable of winning the nomination with these positions, because he has an enormous amount of money from the open-borders interests to play with. I would not be surprised if some of the billions from the drug cartels wind up in his war chest after suitable laundering. But he would win the nomination in a weaker position with his base than otherwise.
Putting aside your characterization of me -- give me a link to that claim that is on record.
Perry attacks administration at campaign stop in Hampton, N.H......"On immigration policy, Perry said he is opposed to amnesty and will always be opposed to amnesty. "For decades we have had a federal government that has failed its constitutional duty to protect its borders," he said. "You have to ask, are we going to have a president that is going to stop the illegal activities happening on the border?"
Rick Perrys problem at the moment is NOT the MSM and the Left. Rick Perrys problem at the moment is with the conservative base. Do you get that?...........
Now you have refused to answer my question about the MSM and the Left and why they are attacking Rick Perry so hard, finding it safer to retreat to your comfort zone -- disinformation.
Check out Cain’s interview with John Stossel, and you can see Cain would make a perfect running mate for the pro-choice / pro-life flip flopper Romney.
Beginning at 3:50, Cain says he believes in the sanctity of life but then goes on to say the government has no right making any decision for a woman and should just stay out of it. “It’s the woman’s choice.”
Quite frankly, I felt as if he was flip flopping all the way through this question even, and I couldn’t figure out where he stood at all (and neither could John Stossel who was interviewing him).
When Rick Perry says he wants to legitimize" the "economic contributions of illegals he can only be talking about ILLEGALS HERE IN THE UNITED STATES NOW. It is only the illegals here now who it can be argued are "making an economic contribution" to the US economy.
So it cannot be clearer that Rick Perry wants to legalize the illegals here now. He would do this by waving a magic wand over their heads and calling them "guest workers."
But IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT WE CALL THEM. If we legally give the right to live in the U.S. to people who have broken our laws and invaded our country by the millions and are costing us tens of billions of dollars every year in our schools, emergency rooms, jails and prisons, court system, welfare payments, identity theft, gang activity, drunk-driving deaths and numerous other social costs, then THAT IS AMNESTY!
Maybe you are telling yourself that you are NOT lying for Rick Perry when you deny that he wants amnesty because Rick has said that it is not his intention to give them citizenship, only to let them live here legally.
BUT THAT IS STILL AMNESTY! Amnesty by definition means allowing people who have broken the law to not receive the penalty prescribed by law for their law-breaking.
Under our laws, these people are required to be deported. But Rick Perry would NOT deport them, he would let them live here legally as "guest workers."
AMNESTY.
And here is the Susan B. Anthony Pro-life Pledge Cain REFUSED to sign, standing in opposition of this stand alongside the refusals of fellow candidates Romney, Huntsman, and Johnson. (All others have signed.)
***
(SBA pro-life pledge - as rejected by Herman Cain:)
I PLEDGE that I will only support candidates for President who are committed to protecting Life. I demand that any candidate I support commit to these positions:
FIRST, to nominate to the U.S. federal bench judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, not legislating from the bench;
SECOND, to select only pro-life appointees for relevant Cabinet and Executive Branch positions, in particular the head of National Institutes of Health, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Health & Human Services;
THIRD, to advance pro-life legislation to permanently end all taxpayer funding of abortion in all domestic and international spending programs, and defund Planned Parenthood and all other contractors and recipients of federal funds with affiliates that perform or fund abortions;
FOURTH, advance and sign into law a Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain from abortion.
THAT'S the best defense you can come up with for Perry's desire to legalize the illegals??
