New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has decided against entering the race for president, likely ending once and for all the GOP establishment’s hope for a new candidate in the 2012 race.

Christie has scheduled a 1 p.m. press conference in his state’s capital, where he’s expected to announce that he will not seek the presidency. Two sources said he has started informing people of his decision in advance of his Trenton press conference.

“He is not running,” said a fundraiser informed of the decision. “Mary Pat and the gov just called tier one [donor] group to say he was out.”

The Pubbie establishment is desperate. Romney has flat-lined because they’re just aren’t that many country-clubbers. Perry is fizzling because his pose as a conservative is phony: he is an inarticulate dope and a globalist traitor. That leaves true outsiders and rebels like Cain, Bachmann, and Palin, none of whom has any allegiance to the party hacks. Bye bye, country-clubbers. Screw you.

Clinton, for all of his faults, was one hell of a good campaigner, though. I think the one thing he and Reagan had in common, almost alone in the century, was that they *enjoyed* the fight, every second of every stump speech. They both knew how to get good operatives in place and let them do their job (hate Carville as we might the guy is a Marine through and through, attack, attack, attack and than attack again to be sure the objective is dead).

I would bet that Sarah has people who know what they are doing and is preparing carefully. One of her biggest advantages is the scorn in which the left and the MSM hold her. Time is on her side and against Mitt and Perry; we already know every ‘negative’ that the left can dig up and throw out there, while every ‘new’ thing I find out about Mitt or Perry makes them less attractive.

Christie would make a damn good cabinet member; he’s capable and takes his job seriously it seems.

It’s all about “fire in the belly” Sarah has it, Cain has it, the rest seem to be as much about ego gratification as belief in country above self.
