We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”
Race 4 2012 ^ | October 4, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:03:21 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

Pure unadulterated BS. It is NOT this Republican’s “foremost goal to defeat Obama.” My formost goal is to put a true conservative (in all ways) in the POTUS Chair. I wish it was possible to fire idiots like the person quoted.

“Gov. Perry has appeal to so many of the groups the Left has divided us into, that he’s the one that the Democrats fear the most.”

Perry DOES NOT appeal to this conservative....to many screw ups and too many, less than conservative, bad positions.

However, IF he wins the primary I will vote for him in the general election - but not gladly. I won’t EVER vote for Romney. So, Perry meets my minimum acceptibility standards...that is as far as it goes.

I do not concur with you that he “scares” the left the most. He is too prone to compromise with them. Their real nightmare would be Palin, If she could win. Her as POTUS would actually make Alec Baldwin move this time! BTW - I am not a Palinista.

Dateline This Perry thread
FLASH!!!

“It’s now 11:30ish in “Beautiful Downtown Arizona” where the citizenry cannot explain the sudden disappearance of Cincinatus’ Wife from this thread HOURS after being called directly to answer a direct question by multiple posters. Sources close to the investigation believe she is experiencing an “inconvenient truth” and will continue to refuse to answer.”

Lame joke aside, I don’t think it’s out of line to hold a self-described ‘conservative’ to their words, despite some of her defenders here acting as if asking for some integrity is somehow out of place.

I have pointed out on a few threads that there seem to be a lot of libs posting lately. I also said that we’d be crazy to think that FR is free from paid political operatives. And lookie here...here’s a poster acting just like one. Now when asked, CW made light of the question but did say she was not such. True? She doesn’t seem to have the courage of standing behind her convictions or statements so who knows?

As for her defenders, you may not like me. So be it. Ask yourself if hers as displayed here is the kind of ‘conservatism’ you support.

I would vote for Sarah Palin, absolutely hell yes. And for Rick Perry. The two have more similarities than anyone else in the race or not declared. These people calling Perry insults need to take a boot up their ass. Cain is just too green and has no experience in elected office. As the big boss of a company you get to bark orders and drive off in your Chrysler 300. In politics you have to negotiate and work across party lines. Cain has not a DROP of experience - at any level - to warrant serious consideration as a presidential candidate.

I absolutely will NOT vote for Romney.

Personally I don’t think anyone can turn this ship around. We’re all going to have to suffer a “system restore”.

As for RINOS, see my tag line. I will not vote for Romney and if obama is re-elected, so be it. That’s just the way the pickle squirts.

Gee Car, have you forgotten your last smackdown so soon? Weren’t you warned about attacking fellow posters? I believe “posters like you who obviously have a very loose grasp on reality” qualifies as an attack on a fellow poster.

Allow me to refresh your memory...

To: Carling
Those who support RINOs AND attack other posters AND/OR attack FR while doing so are definitely subject to the zot. And, sorry to burst your bubble, but with every passing debate Perry is proving himself to be an anti-liberty RINO. He’s now doubling down on stupid with his democrat-like attacks on tea party people regarding our refusal to go along with his support of taxpayer subsidies for illegal aliens. And you’re doubling down on stupid for supporting his obvious lies regarding his attempted governance by decree on the vaccination of 12 year old girls fiasco. You should both walk away from attempting to defend the indefensible. Romney is a mandate-loving statist POS, but Perry isn’t proving out to be much better. A pox on them both. And if you continue your attacks on our posters or our conservative causes or our website due to our not bending to the will of the RINOs then a pox on you too.
And I will thank you to mind your own business about the way I manage my website. If you don’t like it, vote with your feet. Continue as you are and I will vote with mine.

Since you apparently don’t care to take JR’s statement seriously, perhaps you can explain why you think you can ignore it? And would you also say that (paraphrased) you find it hilarious that somebody from California, the state that gave the nation Boxer in the Senate, thinks they can judge the conservative credentials of a Texas governor now in his third term? Just to be consistent of course. Please, Freepmail him and tell him. But you don’t have the guts to tell him what you think do you Carling?

Since you bring it up, my full statement was...

“Well when someone posts crap that’s about as diametrically opposed to the principles of the site and who and what it’s founder supports as it gets, is it any surprise that lightning is a possibility? Wouldn’t be the first time.

See also Post 431 for an example.

I said nothing about “in her (Palin’s) glory”. That’s your PDS talking. You want to smear her, go post on Huffington or DU. I don’t have to run the site to point out you and others acting like libs and using their terminology.

Precisely. Too many here are more willing to tear up other candidates instead of concentrating on the obvious.

“Perry didn’t “lie.” He made a joke, saying, “this was Al Gore before he invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global Warming.””

Gore, Pre Perry, on PBS spouting eco BS.

Perry a month ago saying, “this was Al Gore before he invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global Warming.”

When in fact AlGore was a publicly known eco nut prior to Perry’s association. Read his books sometime.

Perry lied.

I clearly did have the guts to tell him, since I did in the posts that you and others keep re-posting, and also in private FReemails. What's your point, Norm? Jim said today that he could support Perry if it came down to it, but not Romney. MNJohnnie calling Perry 'Romney-lite' is ludicrous, and it makes me question his grasp on reality, since it falls outside of what Jim has posted as recently as this morning. Also, Norm, how 'gutsy' is it for you to run to Jim Robinson when people disagree with your rants? People like you, who are actively trying to get active conservative FReepers banned, and run to daddy whenever their worldview is challenged, are the people who lack guts, IMO.

What’s my point? Can you read? Just so we’re clear on this... JR read you the riot act, clearly spelled out your and likewise behavior is Zotworthy and ‘I” am running to daddy?” trying to get people banned? This is another of your liberal traits called “projection”. Look it up.

Are you even remotely aware of how asinine your post looks? If you are so confident in your assertions, go back them up.

JR read you the riot act, clearly spelled out your and likewise behavior is Zotworthy and ‘I” am running to daddy?” trying to get people banned? In the very next post, you pinged Jim Robinson on another poster.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2788065/posts?page=432#432

Are you feeling well today?

Also, you questioned my "guts", yet anybody can go to the thread you posted and see that I did tell Jim exactly how I felt, and we had an exchange the continued via FReemail.

So, in that case, not only are you running to daddy, but you also defeated your own claim about my "guts". Perhaps it's time for you to take a few days off, since you're attacking multiple posters in multiple threads. I took a week off and feel much better. So, unless you're trying to get me banned, then what else would the point of you posting just one post of my exchange with Jim?

Wrong. Perry has a solid conservative record with one or two exceptions. To wit...

1. Pro-gun.

2. Pro-life.

3. Pro death penalty.

4. Global warming skeptic.

5. Pro-military veteran.

6. Pro-drilling.

7. Pro-business, regulatory reform.

8. Has the guts to call Social Security what it is.

9. Strong on 10th ammendment, limited Federal government.

10. Has been a strong supporter of Israel for decades.
