Obama Gains vs. GOP on Jobs as Congress Hits a New Low
ABC News ^ | 10/5/2011 | Gary Langer

Posted on 10/05/2011 8:19:18 AM PDT by toma29

Barack Obama has jumped to a 15-point lead over the Republicans in Congress in trust to handle job creation, a sign the beleaguered president’s $450 billion jobs package has hit its mark in public opinion. Fifty-two percent support the plan – and most say it just might work.

Overall approval of the U.S. Congress, meanwhile, has dropped to its lowest in polls dating back to the mid-1970s. And of the eight in 10 Americans who are dissatisfied with the way the country’s political system is working, more blame the Republicans in Washington than the president.

For all of Obama’s well-documented woes, these and other results in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll underscore that politics are comparative, the public’s economic ire is omnidirectional – and it’s possible to move the bar.

A month ago, Americans divided evenly, 40-40 percent, on whom they trusted more to handle job creation, Obama or the congressional Republicans. Now, after his jobs proposal and ongoing promotion of his plan, it’s 49-34 percent, Obama’s first significant advantage over the GOP on jobs in ABC/Post polling since early 2010.

The president’s also maintained a large advantage over the Republicans in Congress in being seen as more concerned with the interests of middle-class Americans, now 52-32 percent. And the GOP, by a vast 70-17 percent, is seen as being more concerned than Obama with protecting the interests of the wealthy, a sentiment on which Obama has capitalized with his proposed millionaires’ tax.

THE WOODS – The president’s hardly out of the woods.

If this is true - it's not - then why did Harry Reid block a vote on Obama's "hugely" popular bill? And why do a large majority of Americans believe Obama will lose the 2012 election? Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I'm not sure how it matters since Obama will not be running against “the Republicans in Congress” in 2012.

Either the numbers are completely cooked, or the country is full of total lunatics.

Both are equally likely explanations.

What a Joke Nancy and Harry had a 9% approval rating while they were leaders in the house and Senate.

He’ll try, though. Funny how Obama was called the next coming of FDR. Then Lincoln. Then Reagan. Now Harry Truman. All with that 800 pound Jimmah gorilla hanging from the chandelier.

Yes he will. It will be a cornerstone of his campaign strategy.

I still say our side sucks at marketing.
Our congressmen need to bypass the MSM and do YouTube...
Specifically: write some bills and market them for overturning the Frank/Dodd bank fees, bills for overturning EPA, explanation why free speech is fine, but the protestors taking down Wall St is stupid and explain why. When common sense is “perpetuated”, MSM can’t say anything and hopefully these brains full of useless mush will improve. Now these CommiePossies are trying to recruit college kids. Gee, do you think it’s Van Jones per orders from Obama? Hmmmm????

Heard this on the radio news (ABC during Beck’s show) this morning. Almost drove off the road laughing.

ABC poll, which did not ask about if people are fed up of Dem but they did ask if people are blaming the GOP

What a crock of crap this is all, ABC doing a biased poll and then reporting it as if it was a true reflection of the population

Time to march on these networks and demand they stop being corrupt for this admin

Look at the question they ask if people blame republicans but do not ask the question do they blame the Dems

The whole poll is so biased in how they asked these question and now ABC reports this as FACT

The pro queer, cross dressing liberal biased corrupt media at it again and then they have the nerve to say they’re not biased

Let me get this right.

A large majority of Americans don’t trust Obama’s leadership on the economy.

The Republicans in Congress are doing their best to put a roadblock in front of his plans. (Seemingly a good thing.)

Therefore, the Republicans in Congress are less trustworthy than the Dems on jobs and economic policy. (Say what?)

Somehow this just doesn’t equate. Somebody’s polling is all screwed up.

Can there really be that many stupid people??
1. Its not even a real plan. Same old shit...
2. The Republicans tried to bring it up for a vote and the Democrats stopped it..
Really people. You gotta buy a clue.............

“I’m not sure how it matters since Obama will not be running against “the Republicans in Congress” in 2012.”

If he doesn’t run, then the scuttlebutt is that they are going to draft Andrew Cuomo.
