Look for the union label.

And they wonder why the Post Office is broke.

The employees in DC who were displaced by the anthrax attack found out shortly after that they could be transferred just about anywhere USPS wanted ~ whether their building was fixed up or not and without the commuting subsidy that'd been provided temporarily.

I have no doubt these guys will end up working somewhere ~ but it won't be in their hometown! Fortunately for them they can buy new homes on the cheap these days.

USPS went broke paying $5.8 billion a year to the US government to give you a tax break. Your free ride is over!

Since they are federal employees, doesn’t the govt buy their home as part of the moving package?

“The sickening thing about this is they knew it (the closure) was coming” and still agreed to a four-year contract, said Tott, president of Sioux City Postal Works Union Local 186.

So, if it sickens you so much Tott, lets go in and renegotiate a win/win deal....................... But the answer is it doesn't really sicken you, does it?

Not unless it's part of their agreement. You get down below GS 12 ain't no buying out to relocate. That's a management deal.

With USPS bargaining unit people if it's not in the contract they don't get it. I don't recall them ever having it. On the other hand they have a special deal ~ you can swap jobs with someone in a different city.

The locals have to abide by the national agreement. There is ONLY ONE AGREEMENT ~ not a bunch of them at different postal operations.
