If anything, it shows that Perry is stupid for not considering that frequenting a place called “Niggerhead” could be politically problematic in the future. It would be one thing if it happened in the 50’s or 60’s. This was happening in the 80’s.

Perry was in a short interview on FNC’s The Factor Wed. night, with E. Huddy. He responded to her question about the rock. His dad leased the 1000ac. hunting land from a ranch that was over 40,000ac. in 1983-84. Perry said they painted over that word in that time frame and laid the rock down flat.

“Niggerhead” was the common name for a prolific wild plant in TX, OK, KS and possibly NM and AR. That area of West TX had many of them and there was a creek, etc., of the same name. There was nothing “racist” about the use of the name.

Take a look at Google Images on the name. It’s a term that was/is used extensively. On the first page is a picture of the plant in KS. I tried to copy and paste it here, but it didn’t work. (Obviously, I’m not adept at computers. LOL)

These people are idiots. Until they started this nonsense, I thought Tea Party Express was the one tea party group that was fairly responsible in their approach. Instead, they are going to deliver the country to another four years of Obama. Any Republican administration will put different people in charge of the cabinet departments, and those people will stop many of the Obama policies that are killing jobs. The country needs the reversal of these policies and the economic growth that good jobs would bring.

If we're going to have a black Republican candidate for any significant office, we're going to have to accept the fact that ethnic ties are a huge motivator in the black community. Any black Republican in the current context has to make huge sacrifices to become a Republican. Let's be grateful for the good decision and recognize that no candidate is perfect, and we are not (at least not yet) a post-racial country.

But the issue is broader than that.

Growing up in Grand Rapids where I routinely saw Dutch politicians using ethnicity to get people to vote for “Vander Something” regardless of their actual views, I don't see what Cain is doing as being a “black brotherhood” racial issue, but rather a standard part of ethnic politics.

Similar things happened several generations ago in the Irish, Italian, and German immigrant communities. They happen today in the Hispanic community, including the Cuban Republicans in Florida.

I guess I don't see a problem with recognizing the reality that some people vote based at least in part on ethnicity rather than principle. That's not the way I vote, but lots of other people do, and in this case, it might be a huge advantage to Republicans if Cain takes a substantial part of the black vote away from President Obama. After all, who are the racist bigots going to vote for if the race is between Obama and Cain? I don't think it's going to be the incumbent president.

Perry is about as conservative as Obama. I am for a real conservative....Cain! You should be banned from this site for supporting a liberal.

You should be banned from this site for supporting Romney and Obama because that is exactly what you are really doing; a DUmmie could not do it better than you.

Has this site gone insane lately ?

Yes tie site has gone crazy with people like yourself supporting illegal aliens through your support of Ricardo Perry. Cain is in the lead and SHOULD have your support who is a true conservative.

Allow me to recommend a smilie face in the future. Otherwise the “joke” looks more like a suicide.
Then we could use a little image of a smilie with a gun to its head
We could even have an IBTS - in before the suicide

"But, but he can get it back if he acted like Herm Cain, Cristie, Palin, Bachman."

I think we're probably going to disagree on one point here. Because I don't believe he's capable of passion and enthusiasm for conservative principles.

He's a northeastern liberal who ran and won the Governor's race in one of the most liberal states in the country. He then had higher ambitions and tried to change his policies to prove he was now conservative, but there's nothing to indicate any sincere conservative passion or principles.

He was shilling for the stimulus plan when Obama was elected, shilled for bailouts, and even advocated for timetables in the Iraq war while Bush was president.

He's trying to be a conservative now because it's convenient and necessary for him politically. Conservatism does not authentically pulse through his veins.

Sorry, this isn't an effort by Tea Party Express.

Second, calling us at The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama "idiots" simply because we're going to use Mitt Romney's own words to educate Republican voters about his liberal track record is rather rude.

It's totally appropriate that we should have a GOP nominee who actually has fought FOR and not AGAINST the Republican Party platform, and we are not "idiots" because we think that the purpose of the primaries is to have exactly this kind of battle for the heart and soul of the GOP.

Well played, Jim.

But a lot of our FReepers are under the weather since the Mark Levin show yesterday.

Let me rephrase that in terms more familiar to their ears:

Monied establishment Republicans, GAME ON!!

Cheers!

Free Republic is in all the way. If abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun-grabbing, socialist healthcare mandating, big government, constitution trampling, lying statist Mitt Romney somehow becomes the best the GOP has to offer, then it’s just proof that the GOP is no longer a conservative party and therefore I’m no longer a Republican. I oppose Romney as much and maybe even more than I oppose Obama. Because Romney will turn the GOP into just another progressive party. There will be no opposition party left.

100% ditto.

The terms Communist, Progressive and Liberal as used by the left, all mean the same thing. Let me explain why. Carl Marx in 1848 finished writing and then published the Communist Manifesto. Over the next 30 to 40 years the book gained some followers, mostly self anointed elites with PHDs. ( Now there is a subject worth some grant money. Why are highly educated people with PHDs so susceptible to such an absurd philosophy.) As people became aware of their agenda, the communists picked the term progressive in an attempt to hide that agenda. Years later, the same problem, to many people have spotted the agenda again so they picked the term liberal. ( Note that the dictionary definitions of progressive and liberal are very far removed from the political definitions.)

One of the goals of their agenda is to infiltrate and take control of both major political parties. The Democrat party is at this time wholly controlled, 90% to 95%. The Republican party is 40% to 45% controlled. This leaves WE THE PEOPLE with very little true representation inside the belt way. We need to flush the progressives from both parties.

This nation’s Citizen’s political views have always been to the right of center. When we argue, left with right, right with left, most of the time we are arguing from the same point of view. Those who view themselves as dictionary definition, progressive or liberal, democrats are on our side, that is, to the right of center. Try to point out who is controlling their party and ask them if that is what they really want.
