Meanwhile, groggy demonstrators found their way to the makeshift kitchen in the middle of the park, where food donated by sympathizers - much of it vegan - was being given out. After nearly three weeks of the "occupation" -- which began as a relatively small protest in response to a call from anti-consumerist magazine Adbusters -- a semi-functioning society has sprung up.
Barred by police from using megaphones, protesters created a structure whereby whoever is speaking says his piece, and then the rest of the crowd repeats it, a call-and-response system that ensures the words echo through the park. They use the system at a daily "general assembly" to make collective decisions for a leadership movement on topics like whether they should invest in cheap sleeping bags for the new arrivals. For bathrooms, they head to the nearby McDonalds; for wireless service, some stand outside the Starbucks down the street.

(Girl in picture) By the time I got my beer goggles in focus, I would pass out.
Neanderthal!
Just so I get this straight, you support a Federal Income Tax AND a Federal Sales Tax? Both?
I do for one. No payroll tax, and the underground economy which is HUGE will at least be contributing.
LOL!
Are you so naive as to believe that the underground economy is going to contribute by collecting 9% Federal Sales tax and claiming the income to be taxed at 9%? If anything a Federal Sales Tax will drive even more of the economy underground.
Cain's proposal is just plain idiocy. It will be 9% this year, 10% next year and 50% by 2050.
The problem is with spending and entitlements. The 999 proposal does NOTHING to curb spending or curb entitlements. It's just a gimmick. And the fact that he uses 9 and 9 and 9 to make his proposal is evidence that it is just a gimmick. It will never pass and if it does pass, it will never work.
What's missing in their character makeup is that NO ONE taught them HOW to THINK.
Yeah, I’m naive. Keep laughing.
999 would be a huge tax break for me, and 50% of the americans not paying taxes now would start paying thier fair share, so ya, I’m all for 999.
LOL! Brevity is the soul of wit & you have stated in just two words what this rabble really wants .
This is Barack Obama’s FREE SHIT ARMY ! That is what the Democrat party is now all about , they want to promise everything that a person needs for free as a way to get people to vote for them.
When they can use the power of government to give away houses food etc to as many voters as possible they will become dictators for life. & the GOP leadership is to spineless to even think about saying that is what the Democrat party is up to let alone stand & fight the FASCISTS (Italian model).
Those donors have not been forking over the money like the did before so part of this is in fact an extortion racket run by the RAT party which is coordinating this bit of street theater.
Well stated & factually accurate as well.
it has to be an extortion racket.
We all know very well wall street has made huge gains and are sitting in a lot of profit and they’re not hiring right now.
We know zero wants a billion for his election and is not getting what he thought they would.
What better way to get and force companies than to do a Jessie Jackson and use the left wing sheep on a protest thus telling wall street to pay up for next year.
Once they hand over the money the protests all of a sudden stop.
Unions do the same, they use their members under the pretense of jobs being taken but really union leaders want more money.
One only has to look at who is at the protests, unions, end the war, commies, socialists, left wing professional protestors, code pink, green for America, homosexual rights, end the death penalty.
They have nothing in common and yet they all come out with pre made signs, t shirts, free pizza, drinks , food, and all of a sudden they protest the very people who give more money to the Dems than the GOP.
Another angle on this is that they are targeting the same institution which Bin Laden targeted.
Now some Dems have come out and defended these idiots but it is the Dems which has been taking money from wall street and got us into this mess even more.
They are supposed to have no money but have cameras worth hundreds , some have clothes which are designer
Wait till the snow and cold weather comes LOL.
What a shake down all of this is and the pro queer media are now making them out as freedom fighters unlike the tea party which were classed as racist
Might not be such a bad idea after all , poor sanitation leading to the outbreak of cholera, typhus,& dysentery oh my an excellent excuse for breaking up this goat-roping festival.
there was a time when a place was called Hooverville, seem we now have OBAMAVILLE.
Actually I think I will call it that OBAMAVILLE
So we conservatives point out these facts to the public by pass the state controlled media as much a possible & get the GOP ( yeah I know they’re zipless f*cks but they’re what we have to work with) to do the same in the media.
A good old fashioned cold rainstorm should do the trick.
agree the media are a joke , it is up to us t get the message out about the left , their agenda, this pathetic shakedown etc.
good luck
I remember a contrast between civil rights era protests and modern ones. MLK said to have everyone in suits, perfect demeanor, follow the law - be better than those oppressing you.
Hippies, in contrast, joked among themselves you could get laid at a protest, often in public. Two ends of the decency spectrum.
We changed society because of MLK and others, who showed they were our equals. Hippies show they are our lessers, and that’s why they’re still whining 40+ years and two generations later.
