I believe the Confederacy was at its root not an attempt to preserve the true American values, but rather to reject and replace them. As noted, quite a few around here on this.
But then that’s essentially what the WBTS was fought over. What does (or should) America mean?
Those who believe the Confederacy was in the right have a very different idea of what America is than I do.
