Obama: Reagan Would Have Supported ‘Buffett Rule’ [Video]
Breitbart TV ^ | 10/4/11 | Colin Sumner

"Twenty-six years ago, another President said that some of these tax loopholes, and I quote, 'made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing while a bus driver was paying 10 percent of his salary, and that’s crazy. It’s time we stopped it.' That was 26 years ago. You know the name of that President? Ronald Reagan."

Lately I've been noticing Obama invoking the name of Ronald Reagan while trying to push his Buffett tax. So I thought it would be good to hear Reagan's actual speech and allow people to judge for themselves.

After you watch the lying sack occupying the WH mis-characterize what Ronald Reagan said, here's a link to the original speech by then President Reagan given 6/6/85 at a school in Georgia.

The key part of the speech that Obama keeps referencing is at around the 15:00 mark. What Reagan was talking about was LOWERING taxes, but what really jumped out at me was Reagan's delivery. It was refreshing and I had forgotten what it was like to hear a President who genuinely loved America and her people. Listen carefully, there is no lecturing tone, no demands for still MORE sacrifice to pay for government pensions, no eating our peas and no being told to sit at the back of the bus and shut up. Most of all Reagan never affects the pose of Il Duce when giving a speech.

Mubarak Hessian Obama must be dyslexic. He seems to say the opposite of common facts.

Reagan supported lots and lots of left-wing crap. Here’s a sample:

1) Biggest tax increase in American history

2) Illegal amnesty

3) The end of the “justification” defense in American courts. Before Reagan did that, patriots could argue a constitutional defense for disobeying an illegal federal fascist law. And that defense was upheld by federal courts. Reagan killed that. Thanks to Reagan, he stamped fascist law into American jurisprudence.

Reagan was asleep in the wheelhouse.

I could add quite a few items to the list, but I think context is important. Look at all the presidents of the 20th Century, and show me the one, true-blue defender of the Constitution. Given the crowd, Reagan looks pretty good.

I think you probably have to go back to Grover Cleveland, a Democrat, to find a true constitutionalist president, and that was a very long time ago.

Your post is spot on. We need some combination of Gandhi and Patton, one willing to show compassion where needed or the point of the sword, where that’s called for.

I don’t see that person right now. The last person I can think of that fills that impossible description is King David, and that’s going back 5,000 years.

Guess we need some catching up to do.

Cheers.

Reagan did make some mistakes as all presidents do, but on balance he loved America and tried to do the right thing. Remember he was saddled with a progressive congress, so he was at a disadvantage and the media hated him. Compare it to the POS we have infesting the White Hut now. If he does anything to benefit the country, it’s an accident on his part. He loathes this country, its people and all it stands for, and you can hear it in every speech. Plus for 2 years he had majorities in congress and a sycophantic media, yet he still whined.
