When the press routinely accepts and forwards some gooberment PR flack's "mistakes were made" bullsquat at face value, without challenge, why would you, or anybody else, be surprised. The press have become 'true believers' in omnipotent gooberment, and shield them willingly. They fail to realize that one day, that machinery they worship will turn its baleful eye in *their* direction...
