The Conquistadors destroyed empires that engaged in child sacrifice. It was a great day for South America when they made land
The Spanish Inquisition didn't have a problem torturing children, or women, or the elderly, or anybody else. Those empires they destroyed were destroyed simply because they were in the way of the Spanish.
They would have destroyed the Pilgrims in a heartbeat if they could have dealt with the military fallout from the other European powers. As it was, they still wiped out a few French colonies, and they were even looking for some of the English colonies that were further south. At one point they were looking for Roanoke.

Are you familiar at all with the history of the Conquistadors? For example, do you know how many conquistadors Cortes had with him when he took control of Tenochtitlan?
