“Is the Hank Williams Jr. incident a parallel to the Dixie Chicks?” asks Radio-Info.com, an insider site for the radio industry...the Dallas-based country trio met with both adulation and criticism after singer Natalie Maines told a cheering London audience that she was “ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas,” just 10 days before President George W. Bush ordered a military invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Of course it’s not the same. Hank Jr. was gobsmacked by a PC corportation and comes out of it looking better to the rock-country audience. The Dixie Chicks were dumped by their own (former) fans. No comparison at all.

NO the Dixie Chicks were in another country when they said what they did and it was the fans who turned their back.

I am no huge fan of his, but I will say this:

I admire the fact that he didn’t grovel, complain or whine (that I have heard)

He said (basically) “If that’s the way you want to do this, fine...I’m out of here. Takin’ my music too.”

I think he can walk with his head up. I listened to his interview, and I completely understood what he said initially.

Ya, it was the fans of the Dixie Chicks who turned away from them. In this case the fans of Hank Jr. are behind him.

In the case of Hank Jr., a politically correct corporation decided to take action against him. That did not happen with the Dixie Chicks.

Just what I was oing to say. The Dixie Twits went the way of Peter Lemongello. Who’s Peter Lemogello? Right. Hope the Dixie Twits are having fun playing at puppet shows and block parties .

Nope. The Dixie Chicks were one of the top 3 acts in country music, riding a wave of three consecutive multi-platinum albums. They were charting number 1 after number 1 hit and you couldn’t go an hour without hearing one of their songs on any modern country radio station.

Hank Jr. hasn’t had new songs on country radio since the late 80s. But radio stations will probably still play him if you call in and request it.

Williams apologized for his remark. The Dixie chicks doubled down on their classless politicking.

“Is the Hank Williams Jr. incident a parallel to the Dixie Chicks?”

Silly question. The Dixie Chicks essentially bit the hand that fed them, in addition to aiding and comforting the enemy.

What, the likes of Al Sharpton aren't going to buy Hank Williams' albums anymore?

Nor did Bocephus aid and comfort the enemy. Obama IS the enemy of all Americans worthy of the name.

To be honest with you, and I am a country western fan, I have not heard as of late any new song from them as of late. I could be wrong, but when I do listen in, mostly weekends, I have do not hear them that much.

I agree with Williams.

When Hussein met with Netanyahu and was told Israel cannot exist with indefensible borders, Hussein replied in essence, "Tough Noogies; the murdering savage mob next door has a higher claim to exist."
A few savage murders of sleeping babies is a small price to pay.
What's next? Ovens made in "palestine?"

What Williams said really wasn’t very smart, doesn’t make him a racist though.

First of all, how could Hitler and Netanyahu play golf? Hitler’s been dead for over 60 years.

It would have been smarter to pick a contemporary, like Ahmadenejad, to compare to Netanyahu, now THAT would have made sense.

The problem, once people hear the “H” word, everything else gets tuned out. Context doesn’t matter, just the fact that Shickelgruber was mentioned.

I like Hank, and I like what he said while on TV with the faux three stooges….

What I do not understand is…why do so many of these people make admirable and bold statements and then apologize?????

Is there a trend here?

Are they being systematically threatened somehow? Do they all lack the courage of their convictions? If so, are they too disappointed and surprised (at themselves).

Smell something “fishy” in all of this, folks?????

Semper Watching!
