The State Department’s support of a controversial oil-pipeline project is putting pressure on the White House to move forward after three years, despite objections from environmentalists.
A series of public hearings concludes Friday on the Keystone XL pipeline, which would run from Canada’s oil sands in Alberta down through America’s midsection to the Texas Gulf Coast.
So far, the State Department has published reports in favor of the project, which is projected to create 20,000 jobs and reduce the nation’s dependence on overseas oil.

At this point it’s moot.
The next POTUS will approve it on day 1.
The next economic boom will start the day after the Nov elections.

Kind of like the Iran Hostage release except this time a freaking muzzie kidnapped the US economy for four years.

It could do a whole lot more for the economy (U.S., Canada, world), by helping to drive down the world price of crude oil. The oil sands production could easily double (or more) — but, the stuff needs to get to a market somewhere. When it starts to flow, that will add to the world’s supply & push oil prices lower.
If the pipeline isn’t built, there will be a delay, until Canada builds a tanker port on the west coast (to ship the stuff to China). The delay could be lengthy, as the same enviro-fascistic organizations opposing the pipeline, will turn their unwelcome attention to the port (which they see bringing on Exxon Valdez II).
On the surface this sounds like a good idea...increase supply of (more or less) domestic crude; reduce foreign (middle Eastern) crude demand; and so on.
But, why not put a couple of refineries up by the Canadian border, or nearer the supply than the Gulf coast at least?
Makes more sense to us simple country folk to add to the refining capacity of the nation, rather than a pipeline across the nations midsection. Better security strategy, too.

But radical Greens are waging a last-minute “War on Energy” to KILL the environmentally-friendly Keystone Pipeline Project which would allow America to tap into Northwest American vast oil fields.
