Hugo Chavez has another election coming up. He’s got to do something to increase his approval ratings, so he’s planning to seize privately owned homes and hotels so he can offer vacations in paradise to the masses.

Venezuela president Hugo Chavez’s policy of nationalising strategic private businesses has taken a new twist with his announcement that his government will expropriate hotels and holiday homes at an upmarket Caribbean resort.

The president plans to turn Los Roques, an idyllic archipelago of deserted beaches of perfect white sand with swaying palms and dazzling coral reefs, into a state-run getaway for his country’s urban poor.

Speaking on national television, he said that yachts and speedboats confiscated from fugitive bankers would be used to transport holidaymakers from the mainland. “There are some houses there that were illegally built. We are going to expropriate them.”

What could possibly go wrong with this plan?

Sounds familiar. Obviously, these rich greedy bastards need to pay their fair share. Ad I’m sure all their money was made on the backs of the poor.

At the DU they’ve already been discussing seizing private property of “the rich” in the country. Apparently they have now moved on to the fantasy that living outside the city makes you rich.

There is no difference between the men, but a big difference between our countries.
For one example, the 2nd Amd. Obama would get a shooting CW2 if he tried this stuff.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration may turn thousands of government-owned foreclosures into rental properties to help boost falling home prices.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency said Wednesday it is seeking input from investors on how to rent homes owned by government-controlled mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the Federal Housing Administration.

The U.S. government rescued Fannie and Freddie in September 2008 and has funded them since the financial crisis. The mortgage giants own or guarantee about half of the nation’s mortgages and nearly all new mortgages.

At the end of last month, the government owned roughly 248,000 foreclosed homes, officials said. About 70,000 of those are listed for sale. But officials expect the number of foreclosures to soar in the coming months.

Agree...Hugo just a few chapters ahead in the 'playbook'.

Hope our Repub Leadership - and our Candidates - have a clue and speak up and out, on what is really going down by way of Obama,Inc. and the 'Wall St.' MO.

Excellent news!

Do we get to choose whose house we “reassign” in Malibu?

I’d like Barbra Streisand’s or Steven Spielberg’s compounds.

If those “Occupy Wall Street” idiots had any sense -that’s where they would be camped out. Probably lots of good wine, maid service, sleep # beds and lobster ala carte;)

You are right! If you took all the money in the world and divided it equally among everyone, in a short period of time, NO ONE would have any money because no one would be able to start a business and hire other people.

Where have we heard of this before?

Good point. That would be using Section 8 as a massive block-busting scheme, aimed squarely at destabilizing middle class neighborhoods with urban criminals and welfare freeloaders.
