Obama Plan: Teacher Jobs One Year Only
After a year, there’s no federal funding for the added jobs
By Don Carrington
Oct. 3rd, 2011

RALEIGH — President Barack Obama stood before thousands of screaming supporters at North Carolina State University Sept. 14, urging Congress to pass the American Jobs Act, his $450 billion plan to create jobs and stimulate the economy.

“Pass this jobs bill, and there will be funding to save the jobs of up to 13,000 North Carolina teachers, cops, and firefighters,” he said. But he didn’t say that his bill would fund the jobs only for one year. Nor did he say how the jobs would be paid for after that — or whether state and local governments would have to lay off other public employees to maintain the jobs of those hired under the bill.

A White House press release describing the benefits to North Carolina was more specific. “These funds would help states and localities avoid and reverse layoffs now, and will provide $900,300,000 in funds to North Carolina to support 13,400 educator and first responder jobs.”

As in the president’s comments, the White House press release does not specify how long the jobs would be funded. Dividing $900,300,000 by 13,400 yields $67,186.57 to cover salary, benefits, and any other costs associated with providing each job in North Carolina. Since the average annual cost of teacher pay and benefits in the state is $56,000, funding in Obama’s jobs bill would cover a little more than one year of compensation.

Obama is an idiot. How much is it now per job “created or saved?” One million? Two, three, ten a hundred?

We have already heard this before.

I know what obamma os trying to do. obamma is trying to bump the monthly unemployment rate downward just enough to win re-election, then the jobs go away.

Just enough money to last through the 2012 election.

Yup, just long enough to buy the 2012 elections and bankrupt the country in the process.

With Obama and his friends like Bill Ayers, Van Jones and Steve Lerner mobilizing flash mobs and street protests intimidating business people and bankers we are getting a preview of what an Obama second term would look look.

Same thing Clinton did with his 100,000 new cops on the streets — fund them the first year and have the states pick up the tab thereafter.

AKA, ye ole shell game.

That’s the plan. And that’s the basic evil of funnelling federal money to states and cities for any purpose whatever.

None of that should be allowed. Cut all the federal funding, cut federal taxes, and raise state and local taxes some if necessary.

This kind of federal funding has pulled many or most of our states and cities into deficit territory. They are now hooked on federal funds, and obliged to obey their master’s wishes. In the end, it simply encourages cities and states to increase their deficit spending, borrow more, and pile up debt.

Abolish the Department of Education, among others, and that would mean you could cut federal taxes a lot more than you raised state and local taxes. We don’t need millions of federal bureaucrats whose chief job is to swill all this pork back and forth, siphoning off a percentage at each stage.

This Liberal/Marxist ploy is used to get Federal POLICY handles over the local government operations the Federal funds are offered for. That; not helping to provide for “local teachers”, “local cops” or anything else local is what the political agenda behind the legislation is about. It is typical Marxist maneuvers using a “crisis” to offer a “solution” which is not a solution but just a gimmick to cement broadened Federal powers.

This is SOP with federal grants because it guarantees unionized employees - teachers, cops, firefighters etc - lifetime employment. The grant funds a job 100% in year one but reduces funding 33% per year. By year three the feds pay almost nothing, the local institution is on the hook, the job is entrenched in the staffing chart and local taxpayers are screwed forever and ever, amen. The grant system is the main reason the Education department exists and is the main reason it needs to be abolished.

Yes he did exactly that, and what's more he never came anywhere near the 100,000 mark. Local police departments had to agree to take the money and hire someone but most of them saw throught the ruse and refused the funds.

You don't hire a policeman for one year and then lay him off. What kind of bullshit is that?

Well, Clinton bullshit, is what.
