Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation allowing illegal immigrants to apply for state-funded college financial aid, the second chapter of a package known as the California Dream Act.
Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking," Brown said on Saturday. "The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us."
In July, Brown signed the first part that permits undocumented students to apply for private financial aid. Assembly Bills 131 and 130, respectively, were authored by Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles.
Currently, undocumented students may pay in-state tuition rates if they graduate from a local high school and can show they are in the process of applying to legalize their immigration status. Assembly Bill 131, effective Jan. 1, 2013, will make the limited pool of students eligible to apply for Cal Grants and other aid.

Proof that we don’t need to increase taxes, fees etc, etc, to add revenues.
California is flush with cash.
So much so that we can take on additional programs with out concern about funding or deficits.
And I bet the other Dem run governments have plenty of money too!
well, now the middle class white collar types can compete against illegal aliens just like the poor blue collar folks.
Californians need to demand a cut in their taxes and all fees. The state has way too much of the taxpayers’ money.
How are they going to pay the financial aid loan back after they graduate since they cannot lawfully get a job because they are undocumented? These loans make subprime loans that brought this economy down look like AAA prime loans.
I can’t wait for the federal bailout of California. /s
How is this different from what Gov. Rick Perry did in Texas?
The only real difference is Perry will not have to pay for it with taxes as he "balanced" his last two budgets with "stimulus" money that Obama got for him.
“How are they going to pay the financial aid loan back”
They will be getting Cal Grants which do not have to be paid back. $12,000 free money for low income. Plus you only have to have a 2.0 GPA.
Oh, wait...
Democrats are ruling without the moral authority to do so. They are outlaws.
And of course the cowardly bastard does it on a weekend to minimize the negative reaction.
Yup, that sums it up nicely.
I’m so glad I left Cali but am so sad to see what the libs are doing to it.
I bet its the same.
tejas cannot be separated form mejeico.
Their cultures are one.
Perry is a tejan.
tejas and mejico are intertwined.
The new law Gov. Brown just signed steps things up considerably. This new law allows illegal aliens in California to obtain Cal Grants (these are not loans) to assist in paying for tuition, books, living and transportation expenses at the University of California campuses, California State College campuses, and at community colleges. Here is a link to information about the program: http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?id=568 http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?id=568
Cal Grant awards are based on family income. Here is a link to information on income ceilings for this program: http://www.csac.ca.gov/facts/2011-12_incomeceilings_new_applicants.pdf
A student from a family that makes enough reported income, or owns enough assets, to actually pay income or property taxes in California, is not likely to qualify for these grants. The student from the taxpaying family will need to pay full in-state to finance their own education, and will have their tax dollars finance the Cal Grants for the illegal aliens as well.
Line for those taxpayers leaving California forms on the right.
There Shall be NO TAX of any kind, on Owner Occupied, single family residences or property.
