The maggots weren’t repeating the words due to any mind control or anything like that.
Supposedly, the sound system in that park (Piedmont? Chastain?) is so bad that the chilluns couldn’t hear the speakers, so it was “democratically” decided to repeat all the words so all the maggots could hear equally.
Really an embarassingly puerile exercise. I wonder if the childishness turned Lewis off as much as the rudeness?
