That was the FP-45 Liberator. Originally intended to be air-dropped to resistance fighters in WWII.

If you can lay your hands on one of those, you are indeed a man of means. They're incredibly rare in spite of the fact that the US Government, with a little help from the General Motors Guide Lamp Division, manufactured thousands upon thousands of them.
