Herman Cain Schools Yet Another White Journalist Trying to Tell Him What Black People Think
BigJournalism ^ | Joel B. Pollak

On CNN’s State of the Union this morning, host Candy Crowley joined the ranks of white journalists who presume to speak on behalf of black Americans in expressing their alleged skepticism about Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.

Blaming racism for the economic gap between blacks and whites, Crowley asked Cain whether his success was due to “luck,” or a “loving family,” rather than skill and hard work, which apparently are never enough in our racist society. (Should the government redistribute luck and love?)

Cain took it in stride, pointing out that economic policy is at the root of unemployment for all Americans. While acknowledging that some racism exists, Cain highlighted more important causes of the racial economic gap, such as differences in education and the geographic concentration of blacks in failing cities. He also used Crowley’s questions as an opportunity to discuss his own 9-9-9 plan for tax reform and economic growth.

He should have ask her if it was a matter of luck for a large, fat ugly woman to get hired at cnn.

She was very hittable when she was a puppy.

lol...a self-confident, positive, and outgoing man like Herman Cain is infinitely more employable than Candy Crowley.

And, having hired many people over the years, I think Cain is absolute correct about racism playing little or no role in employment. A smart, attractive candidate stands out regardless of race.

The reason most young people have trouble, regardless of color, is their "tude."

True, when you want to spend 90% of the time on the phone talking to some …p o t, you are not going to achieve much.

Candy's husband Steve was the Associated Press Regional Marketing Executive back in the 70s when I was in the news business.
Steve was always good for a couple of adult beverages at a little bar in downtown DM. I always thought Candy had a great voice for radio...

Sounds like a pretty incestuous relationship: journalist suit + journalist reporter = unbiased news. Yup. Sure. Absolutely. Nothing here. Move on.

One thing he didn’t say was that many blacks hold THEMSELVES back because they feel that getting a good, marketable education means you’re “going white” or are becoming an “Uncle Tom.” Funny, no one thinks of Zero as an Uncle Tom.

Great story. Often there is nothing to fear. And once one shows fear in a touch and go situation like that, it is akin to blood in the water for the sharks. Best to just remain cool, smile at everyone, yet remain firm and in command and project confidence, and let them think you might have a little something in the glove compartment for self defense, and by and large people would not generally “f” with you in those neighborhoods. Great story!!

Pat Buchanan once related a similar story on the old Crossfire when he got lost taking home the late, not-so-great liberal Tom Braden - his co-host. They accidentally ventured into a Washington ghetto and Pat practically had to sedate old Tom. He told the story with great relish and malice aforethought. So typical of sheltered libs.

>>When one reads a barely coherent transcript of questions byTV interviewers such as Crowley, one wonders how they keep their jobs. Cain is so much better at communicating his ideas than this media “professional” does.<<

Yes, I was impressed reading the transcript while listening to him respond. His replies could have been a speech, drafted, redrafted and checked for grammar, but in reality it was Herman Cain speaking without a teleprompter and stringing words together in complete sentences that made sense, absent any of the “uh”, “you know” or “like” interjections so common in most people’s speech. Sort of the anti-Bush when it comes to speaking.

Obama has the voice, but can’t string 20 words together without a teleprompter; Cain has the voice, and the brain in gear behind it. That has to have liberals nervous, really, really nervous.

"Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." ~Herman Cain to Candy Crowley

Love that!

How insulting of her to say there was luck involved in his success!

The amount not spent should include:

State income tax
city income tax
Monthly mortgage payment or rent
Monthly car payment
Utility bills (?)

And other items such as gifts to relatives/friends, etc.
