Former farmer. I use that tagline often, as I think most Freepers are unaware of the huge glut of food and feedstuffs we have.

The ethanol threads are often full of hadwringing of ‘we must not burn our food’.

We have so much surplus food that there really isn’t a good reason not to burn it, unless we want to go back to the days of ‘paying farmers not to plant’.

Thanks for the link to Cain’s positions on the issues. I read it over, and find little to disagree with, although it’s only a bullet point list. Still vetting...

I would have never said that about Rick Perry if he had not called me heartless for my support of the law. He isn't going to win the nomination no matter what and it's his fault for calling a large portion of his former supporters “heartless”. If that's what he believes then he is out of touch with the majority of Americans and thinks most are heartless.

That's why he basically went from front runner to loser who will only continue to go down in the polls. He can't save himself this time. I give him credit for saying what he actually believes instead of lying about it like most politicians would have. He would probably still be in the race if he hadn't shown that he believes in something that is literally destroying our once great nation and helping turn it into the hell hole known as Mexico.

Herman Cain is more Conservative on ever issue when compared with Romney or Perry, and I just don't understand how you could pick someone other than Cain out of those three if you're an actual Conservative. The vast majority of Americans want illegal immigration stopped; not for them to be given benefits and incentives to continue their nation killing invasion. Illegal immigrants are responsible for more deaths than Islamic terrorism and WILL destroy this nation if not taken serious.

I would never support Rick Perry or anyone else who doesn't take illegal immigration serious. I already did that with the Bush and McCain. When was the last time we actually had a President who seriously wanted to stop illegal immigration and enforce our own laws? I'm not going to ever again vote for the guy who will destroy the nation slower over the guy who will destroy it faster. I will only vote for those who take the right position on the huge issues facing our nation. Many will say it's ignorant to make that kind of decision based on one issue, and it is on some minor issues, but not on an issue that is going to destroy our nation as we know it, and is hardly ever talked about seriously by those with the power to solve the crisis.

I was saddened that I would more than likely have to sit this election out when victory was almost certain for our candidate because the front runners had liberal past and were still talking like liberals on certain issues(Perry sounded like a liberal such as Al Gore with his accusation of people like me who believe in the law, and not ignorant policy that benefits criminals who don't belong in our country as heartless). Then Herman Cain suddenly surged in the polls and is now in a position to take the nomination and I don't know how any real Conservative can take the candidates history and views on the most important issues facing our nation and not choose Cain.

I knew Perry was going to run for President when he started talking about succeeding from the Union and asking the Federal government for troops to put on the border. It was obvious he was trying to change his image at that point. And if he's believes so highly in States rights then why in the hell didn't he use his power to deploy the Texas National Guard to the border instead of asking the liberal President who's response was already known? When Perry drops low enough in the polls to give up trying to win this futile race I will give him some respect if he endorses Herman Cain, but you can't pretend that people don't have the right to be upset with him for calling them “heartless”.

Hopefully Sarah Palin endorses Cain. I believe she will endorse him and I think the other Conservative candidates who eventually drop out will put their support behind him as well considering it's not a hard call when looking at the top three. Most of those supporting candidates other than the current top three will switch to Herman Cain if their candidate doesn't start to make progress in my opinion as well.
