FBI and DEA agents have disrupted a plot to commit a "significant terrorist act in the United States" tied to Iran, federal officials told ABC News today.
The officials said the plot included the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and subsequent bomb attacks on the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, D.C.
Bombings of the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were also discussed, according to the U.S. officials.

JH, this is a very, very big deal.
While earlier I flippantly said Obama will do nothing, I have to take that back.
There is no way a POTUS can avoid impeachment in this situation unless he initiates a very strong military response...total neutralization of their military capability is the minimum.

Come to think of it, the US declaring war on Iran would be a blessing for Ahmadinejad, too. He's in serious trouble over in Iran.
Holder explicitly says the plot was
"conceived, supported and directed" by the Iranian government to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States while he worked in U.S.The only thing they could have done that would have been a more explicit cause for war would have been if they had piloted an Iranian airliner into the Capital Building.

The jackarse announced it today because he needs the Republicans to tell him what to do via the debate tonight.
I’d rather see him in jail for fraud amongst many other charges.
Never said I believed them, just said it was a pretty serious accusation.
I do think the timing of this announcement by Holder is extremely suspect. Why would an AG be the one to make this kind of announcement? This is the kind of announcment I would expect to hear from POTUS in the Oval Office at 8pm, while TLAMs were inbound to target.
I would agree with this sentiment, except the WH and State haven’t gone so far as to finger the mullahs or Ineedastraightjacket. ATM, they are only willing to say it was the IRGC. However, I do think it’s telling that the head of the House Intel Committee is saying the plot goes to the very top of Iranian leadership.
I think the limit on this is more sanctions imposed unilaterally by the US and allies and another round of UN sanctions (that is if we don’t get a Chinese/Russian veto).
