If you were paying your employee $8/hr and the government $0.48/hr for SS, and they told you you didn’t have to pay the $0.42 to the government, wouldn’t you say, “Good, I’ll keep the $0.42.”? Why on earth do you think employers will randomly hand out 6.2% raises when there is no need for them to do so?

That's easy. Instead of telling them they have to pay it to the government, tell them they have to pay it into my 401K.

Plus it has this math issue: where does the money come from to cut the current crop of SS checks?
