Perry calls expanding U.S. drilling ‘key’ to economic plan

GOP White House hopeful Rick Perry said Tuesday evening that removing restrictions on U.S. energy production will be a central pillar of the economic plan he intends to unveil in coming days.

“Clearly opening up a lot of the areas of our domestic energy . . . that is a the real key. You have got an administration that by and large has either by intimidation or over-regulation put our energy industry and the rest of the economy in jeopardy,” Perry, the Texas governor, said early in Tuesday’s debate in New Hampshire.

“Clearly, we are going to be focused on initially the energy industry in this country and making American again independent, and clearly the place where domestic energy needs to be produced from,” Perry said.

She does have good plans, that was never her problem.

But she also explained them well and refused to accept the stupid premise of the stupid wall street jail question.

She does this when she’s on the talking head shows as well. I’ve been saying for years that only Palin could stop Romney and defeat O and I still believe that.

However for what it’s worth Bachmann has my vote right now.

She’s the only one in the race who is articulating the positions of Tea Party Americans like me.

When I see crap like that I really have to wonder if "conservatives" are uninformed or just plain dishonest.

Why?

There is some reason the oil producing states are doing the best. North Dakota is doing great—at least until Obama and the RATS figure out how to find a snail that needs protecting and then they’ll stop the oil production.

Try google search, you can see the number of wells drilled and in production, the info is there. The drills are running fine in Pa and ohio. And other states.

We need all the oil production we can get. Because of the fact we are being beaten over the head that we must conserve, conserve, conserve, now gas tax revenues are falling and states are screaming we need an increase in gas taxes.

Every electric car on the road does not pay gas taxes.

When they do the postmortem on Rick Perry’s nomination bid, they will cite his failure to effectively debate his opponents and his lack of clear campaign positions as the reasons for its failure. Perry should not be “working on his economic plan” right now. He should already have had one. Also, on some of his more controversial positions such as “free instate-tuition for illegals” and opposition to a border fence, etc., Perry should have been better prepared to answer these questions and offer alternative solutions. I think Perry could have made a decent President, but the man blew it. Unless, a miraculous comeback happens on his part, I am now stuck with the prospect of voting for a thoroughly polished, but phoney political chameleon (Romney) or a big question mark (Cain).
Regardless who becomes the nominee, I will be voting for anybody, but Obama.

sort of obvious.

he did not have specificity and showed minimal preparedness.

Not having specifics may have left Perry sounding vague and looking unprepared, but it was a brilliant move, because that way he wouldn't have to defend specifics during last night's debate. He can look at what worked and didn't work for the other candidates and then base his plan on that.

And I don't think it was a case of him being unprepared - he's had months to put up specifics on his website rather than a pale imitation of "drill baby drill". This was clearly meant to minimize the amount of questioning he would undergo. Very clever move.
