Senate Republicans Tuesday may have blocked President Obama's jobs bill, but a new poll suggests that's not what a majority of Americans want.

Nearly two-thirds of the respondents to a survey from NBC/Wall Street Journal voiced their approval when pollsters were told them the details of the president's "American Jobs Act"-- including that it would cut payroll taxes, fund new road construction, and extend unemployment benefits. NBC reports that 63 percent of respondents said they favored the bill, with just 32 percent opposing it.

The poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points is set for release Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

When asked simply if Congress should pass the legislation or not, 30 percent of respondents answer yes, while 22 percent say no; 44 percent have no opinion. But when the legislation's details are included in a follow-up question -- that it would cut payroll taxes, fund new road construction, extend unemployment benefits, and that it would be paid for by increasing taxes on the wealthy -- 63 percent say they favor the bill and 32 percent oppose it. What's more, 64 percent of respondents agree with the statement that it is a "good idea" to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations, because they should pay their fair share and can afford to pay more to help fund programs and government operations.

Yeah. NBC wasn't fishing for a result here were they with their push poll. Good luck with this shabby poll to prop up your loser Marxist.

My personal experience (in California!) is the reverse. Out of 12 people asked, 1 (one) agreed with the new deficit enhancement plan.

But all is irrelevant. The only poll that counts is on election day.

It's all about how you word the questions. Never have I ever seen so much (un)journalistic bias towards an outcome. In a side note, three of our Portland, Or. news websites have had a poll question about the OccupyPortland demo in downtown and every one of them is basically a 2/3 majority in favor of shutting the demos down. Unscientific polls and all that don't count if the outcome is wrong.

NBC probably told respondents there would be Free ice cream for everyone who said they loved Obama’s bill. This is sooooo transparent as to be childish. If 63% love this bill why has it found only Larson in the House as a cosponsor? -Quick answer is it is Larson's JOB to support Obama and his district is an enemy outpost.

What a crock - American’s liked “Two and a Half Men” too. That does not make them capable of understanding the ramifications of crappy legislation - especially when told about tiny parts taht sound good in theory. Americans polled in these types of stories are the same that have $120,000 in student loans for a degree in Social Studies or liberal arts. Tell people that the law would give them the same debt as their student loans - debt that can not be eliminated via bankruptcy and they are going to have second thoughts.
