Herman Cain named Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) as potential running mates should he secure the Republican presidential nomination for the 2012 election.
Speaking Thursday on "The Steve Gill Show," Cain outlined the qualities he would like in a running mate, and then, unprovoked, offered specific names.
There are some people in Congress that are very, very good, that I respect and admire and that I would love to have on my team, Cain said. Whether that would be in a V.P. slot or in a key Cabinet slot
Ill give you a name like Representative Paul Ryan. Im not saying he would be the V.P. pick, he might be, but thats the type of person I would want in my Cabinet. Hes the type of person. Sen. Jim DeMint people who are not afraid to challenge the system

Ryan would be better because it would groom him to follow Cain as prez. He’s young enough to follow 8 years of Cain with 8 years of his own.
Yeah I know. Its gets really old, too. It’s like, how many times does it need to be posted. sheesh
So we don’t take answers in debates seriously?
The question wasn’t asked for entertainment value. It was asked to provide insight into their thoughts.
Was Perry’s answer a joke? He picked Cain and Gingrich.
Guess that was hilarious too.
They have run this country, practically to death.
I'm more than ready to give a non-politician the job. A business man first. Or a doctor. Or a physicist.
I've seen how well politicians run the show and I'm not impressed.

Cain’s got a long ways to go before it becomes time to select the Co-Cain slot.
Putting the cart before the horse a bit, isn’t he?
If Cain can get my congressman Paul Ryan to run, he’s a genius. Cain and Ryan will rock DC to the rotten core.
Mr.Cain has more of a chance of convincing DeMint to be VP nominee and he would be a great choice as well.

If you truly want to learn (I have my doubts)
At least he can put together sentences in a debate and he can more than hold his own.
Wrong. 0 got in because he lied and posed as a non-ideological, non-partisan reformer, and the Leftmedia and wimps in the Pubblie Party covered up his obvious commie history. 0 is actually brilliantly successful at his role, which is that of a Marxist revolutionary. He and his backers don't give a bleep whether he saves America; they want America ruined.
The President does not micromanage the nation. There are hosts of careerists in govt. who do the day-to-day operation; the POTUS sets the agenda and sells policy to the public. The idea that the President must have been a career politician like a State Governor is false. In fact, the Establishment wants a career politican precisely because it wants someone who has proven he will "play the game" of bailouts, subsidies, and paybacks. That's the exact opposite of what conservatives should want.
I agree....He’s like a 3rd party candidate..gives a good speech but....
Another great thing about Herman Cain, he is not and has never been a lawyer!
If you don't understand what would have happened if AIG, (the company that insures the governments and economies of the free World) had gone under, you're too stupid to argue anything.
At least try to educate yourself.
I agree - two excellent choices. I like the way he is thinking and I am definitely ready to support that ticket.
The question was the last of the night and was a quick round robin, just for the heck of it type question. Caine joked about Romney needing to ditch his jobs plan, then said he’d pick Newt. Get over it, he was joking about your guy Romney.
I just went to wikipedia to look up DeMint’s and Ryan’s resumes, and they’re both looking good. They both have good backgrounds in business and economics. Ryan even has a bachelor degee in political science. I like that. Very nice.
I got Cheney’s book.
When I paged through the pictures section, I was disappointed to see that a picture of Hussein Obama was there on the last page.
My husband asked me to refrain from ripping that page out.
So far, the page is still there.

How about their voting records? Some posts imply Ryan isn’t all that. See #10
Putting the cart before the horse a bit, isnt he?

I don’t think so. He is projecting the mindset that he WILL be the nominee. And as such - he is way past the also rans who are still squabbling for second place.
Why would DeMint or Ryan leave powerful jobs in Congress/Senate and sign on to be a VP (bucket of warm spit) for a novice who has never won an election and knows nothing about how to work around govt bureaucracies?
I think you’re feigning concern for you own political reasons.
