Obaama got elected because of "Bush fatigue": and by someone who 'appears' well spoken because they can use neurolinguistic programming to read catch-phrases with hypnotic intonation off of a teleprompter.
Stumbling over your own words in a forceful Southern drawl will not help against this.

Debates mean nothing. George W. Bush sounded like an incoherent moron in each debate against Kerry and Gore. He was elected twice. Cain certainly is not the easiest person to understand. How many people have said a word about that? But they will sure tell you how bad of a drawl Perry has.
