Face-off looms as NY protesters fear eviction
By Brigitte Dusseau | AFP – 8 minutes ago

**SNIP**

In a statement on their website, the Occupy Wall Street movement urged supporters to join them at 6:00 am (1000 GMT) on Friday at Zuccotti Park for "non-violent eviction defense."

"Bloomberg says that the park will be open for public usage following the cleaning, but with a notable caveat: Occupy Wall Street participants must follow the rules. These rules include, 'no tarps or sleeping bags' and 'no lying down,'" the statement said.

"So, seems likely that this is their attempt to shut down #OWS for good. We won't allow Bloomberg and the NYPD (New York Police Department) to foreclose our occupation."

Better idea... let them come back, then fence them in. See how long they last cooped up together without the creature comforts that nasty capitalism provides.

Cold weather will soon be rolling in and those in power who actually support the occupiers are now “kicking them out” and/or making them “follow the rules” for only one reason, IMO

They do not want the embarrassment and jokes from conservatives when the kool-aid resolve of the occupiers-disolves with the discomforts of winter weather.

If the the unwashed 99 percenters run home to mommy with their tails between their legs, it will make liberal supporters look even worse than they do now.

In Japan, this may be called saving face

Yup. Then Bloomhead will surely kick them out.

They are exempt, they are Bloomhead (I like that one) supporters.

They need to make this interesting. Fox and Friends should do their Friday Concert Series from there.

Have Ted Nugent play.

This is The Socialist Republic of New York. I’d be surprised if anyone’s ownership rights are honored.

What’s really happening here is that Democrat-supporting forces are trying to co-opt and “whitewash” the OWS movement. They want the movement to, like the Tea Party movement, have an electoral impact so they want to put a nice, clean face on it.

The problem that the Dems will have with the attempt to whitewash the OWS movement is that if they clean it up then it will become transparent to the rest of the country. OWS has taken a siege mentality (we’re not leaving til we get what we want). Sieges don’t usually have an impact on voters because after they go down to the city to see the “freak show” once, forget about the “freak show” and go on with the rest of their lives. Eventually a whitewashed OWS movement will become invisible. or blend in with the background.

The Tea Party was effective because it had a unified message, it decided to work through the political/electoral process and because its events were done in short bursts in which everyone showed up, the media covered it and then they went away for a while. Movements like that don’t tend to ‘blend into the background’ like siege movments do.

Bloomberg is a liberal coward. He’ll let the Occupiers create disorder for as long as they like.

For all his faults, Rudy would have had this over by now.

I was right - the “Mayor” caved. How fortunate for him that he can’t run for reelection, but on the other hand, he is not above changing the law because we “need him” - yeah, like we need cancer!

Bloomberg would have no problem with their smoking drugs - it is tobacco that he objects to! He is such a phony. He grows wussier by the day.

Now Bloomberg is going to let the little stinkers occupy Times Square—on a weekend!

He is the WORST NYC Mayor ever!

Well, there goes the Theatre District! Way to go, idiot mayor. So glad I never voted for him. Jeeze: I was supposed to use the subway this weekend - and spend money - maybe I won’t now.
