A collection of former high-ranking Republicans will launch a group that will raise and spend unlimited amounts of money in a bid to retain the partys majority in the House, they announced Thursday. The formation of the Congressional Leadership Fund solidifies the movement of the new type of loosely regulated committee from outside operators to establishment tools.
A former director of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), Brian O. Walsh, will head the group, which will be chaired by former Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota. It will be organized as an independent expenditure committee, or super-PAC, meaning it may run ads supporting or opposing candidates but may not coordinate with those candidates.
Virtually the entire House leadership, however, has allied itself with the new group. On Nov. 2, a whos who of current Republican House leadership will appear at the groups inaugural fundraiser, including Speaker John A. Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas, the NRCC chairman.
Its formation is a response to the House Majority PAC, a Democrat-allied vehicle that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California has supported, said Mr. Walsh.
For years, the Democrats have had multiple organizations, including MoveOn.org, the unions and others that have been funding independent expenditures. Theyve had all the tools. Now, those of us on our side of the aisle have all the tools, he said.
The committees sole goal is the same as that of the NRCC: to win close House races and expand the partys majority. While a person may not give more than $28,500 to a party committee, super-PACs can accept contributions of any amount. Mr. Walsh said likely donors to the new group would be wealthy conservatives who had already given the maximum to the NRCC.
Its status as a decidedly establishment body

I think your right. Keeping the house in this climate is easy. Rinos keeping control? Not so much. hopefully it will be good bye speaker bonehead after the elections (he can say in the house. just not in leadership)
I kinda wonder if that is what Bachman is up to staying in the race this long. Getting her name out there for a speakership run.
EXACTLY right....they are in deathly fear of Tea Partier Primary challenges to the RINO Establisment incumbents.
shur smells like rino..
I have been saying all along that I think Bachmann made a serious mistake running for POTUS. She should have been solidifying her position in the House, and establishing herself as a trusted leader of the new Tea Party members.
I don’t see how a failed run for POTUS, and consequent neglect of her congressional duties and connections, will do anything to make her a better candidate for Speaker.
The Senate has a good’n...

Go DeMint!
Thanks! That looks like a useful website as well as a good PAC.
It is NOT unlimited. There is no “unlimited” cash unless you own the printing pre$$. Republicans don’t own it yet. Maybe in 2012.
In this case, “unlimited” just means there’s no legal limit on how much a donor can give to the PAC, not that they could actually come up with infinite funds, but I thought the headline was kind of funny like that, too. :)
