Gov. Rick Perry Remarks on Energy Policy and Jobs (VIDEO and TRANSCRIPT)
C-SPAN ^ | Oct. 14, 2011 | Rick Perry

Posted on 10/14/2011 1:56:18 PM PDT by Clairity

Republican presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry announced his energy policy and jobs plan, his first major policy address since entering the presidential race. The event was held at a U.S. Steel plant outside of Pittsburgh in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

The Governor estimates his plan will create 1.2 million American jobs by opening federal land to more energy exploration and production including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, overturn some of the EPA's recent clean-air regulations, and phase out tax incentives for development of renewable energy.

This is NOT a "duplicate" -- the video link was NOT posted before. I am posting the video and link. I am just adding the link to the transcript and more detail in the post, which has been posted before, just so it's all in one place.

I've been trying to find the video, it was finally posted at C-SPAN, and I am posting it -- recommend people watch it and see how Perry presents it.

He is speaking well and his plan is sound.

Here is the link to the transcript and more information about the plan.

Transcript of Perry's Jobs and Energy Speech

Details of Perry's Jobs and Energy Plan

Key points:

Energizing American Jobs and Security

We will energize American jobs and national security through executive orders and executive actions that expand energy exploration all across America. Key components of the plan include:

- Expand energy exploration offshore and on federal and private lands across the country by executive order, creating over 1.2 million jobs

- Eliminate current and proposed activist EPA regulations from the Obama administration, saving 2.4 million jobs by 2020 and lowering projected costs by $127 billion

- Reduce, rebuild, and refocus the EPA federal regulators, returning authority to the states

- Level the playing field for all energy producers, removing Obama's practice of picking winners and losers and ending the Obama war on coal and natural gas production

Governor Rick Perry's plan is based on a simple premise: Make what Americans buy. Buy what Americans make. And sell it to the world.

Rick Perry has the real solutions to our very real problems. He doesn't just incessantly spout out some supposed catch-phrase for an unrealistic plan ala "999".

Yawn and double yawn. Perry is done—like an overdone roast. Give it up Perrywinkles and get behind a winner. Cain is the man.

Sorry to say Cain isn't a serious candidate and Perry is far from done. Here is the reality Herman Cain Only Has "Several Hundred Thousand Dollars" In The Bank He had to loan his campaign 500,000 to keep himself in the black. Big donors will look at his no organization and no money which to them equals not a serious candidate which equals to no big donors. Without big donors you can't run against Obama.

If you actually took 24 minutes of your day and watched the speech and had the same reaction, I would be very surprised. If you refuse to watch it, hit the road, you are unserious.

Whatever. He’s a Republican. Of course he’s better than Obama on energy.

All he has to do is denounce In-State Tuition for Illegals. Apologize for it just like he did HPV. His fmr. supporters will come back in droves.

“Apologize for it just like he did HPV.”

Keep in mind that he DIDN’T apologize for HPV (vaccine). He only said that he did it wrong and should have instead gone through the state legislature to get authority to inject little girls so that they could have wild and crazy sex during their teen years.

He still doesn’t seem to understand that it’s plain wrong to do that.

Thanks for posting the video Clarity!

I am in the process of watching it, and I will continue with the second half of it right after this post, but I couldn’t help but stopping it, coming here, and telling you that I have NEVER, NEVER EVER heard a president EVER talk like Rick Perry in this speech. No president has ever had this kind of vision and his kind of experience. I give Sarah Palin lots of credit for what she did, mind you too! It’s just that Perry’s experience is unmatched and unparalleled by any president, and his words are not like any words a president has been able to utter up to this point in time.

We are not hearing cabinet choices, tax proposals, and simple economic plans. We are hearing words and a view of America which our country has NEVER, NEVER EVER heard before.

I guess I should have listened to the entire thing before coming over here and posting, but I just so wanted to share how awesome to hear something like this at all.

Rick Perry is NO George Bush. G.W., while he had good points among the bad, couldn’t come close to knowing what Rick Perry knows and understands about getting oil drilling going throughout the country and fracking gas from the Marcellus Shale (or any other shale), and no president before has ever understood what needs to be done for true energy independence and what CAN be done and HOW... what can be done by an executive action and what requires Congress; how to implement programs and what steps to take; how to overcome environment agency problems but also how to remain good stewards of both our world and the blessings God has given to our country. Rick Perry knows energy, and he knows about people who can make this happen.

We wouldn’t be hearing the things coming out of Rick Perry’s mouth from other candidates, and we have never heard these things from any president either.

This is a special time in history, and we have a urgent need for a special plan and a special president.

I want to respect those who are looking at other potential candidates, giving them the liberty and freedom to see what each could do, but as for me, I can see a chance of a lifetime for America right here, right there in Rick Perry’s passion and proof.

Back to the video, and thanks for anyone who read this and gave me the freedom to really speak my heart.

Thanks again to you too, Clarity.

I felt exactly the same way. Boy, how good he was in that speech. He laid it out so well...and grasp all of it.
