I live in a small country house on 11 acres of land, a nice cement pond in the back yard. It's 10 miles to the closest town (pop 711) and 17 miles to the nearest shopping (Gainesville). All this for $142,000 is another reason to never go back.
California just loves to rag on my Governor, but please check your own back yard first. Boxer-Feinstein-Moonbeam etc.
All are welcome here, but please leave your CA attitude at the AZ border. Texas is more of a state of mine than a state.
Chuck’s spoken in front of hostile audiences, such as the NAACP, and he’s been through gunfire in the middle east, so he can handle Austin.
In the tradition of Sam Houston and Davy Crockett.
I am sure he has a good plan. It’s not like it’s Ithaca NY or something.
I am sorry for your loss...Oh! Miss Slippy sez “Hey! (Arrrrrrr!) Sssssssssss!”
Ithaca... sounds like a place with a lisp. ;-)

Can you believe it’s already 10 years this month we met up on the FreeperCruise to the Bahamas?
We were just thinking of that cruise. :^)
I moved from California to the Dallas area three months ago. My house is twice as big(and cost less), I pay no state income tax, gas is cheaper and the people are way friendlier. Miss my CA friends and family, but this is a much much better place to live.
Somehow, it seems longer than 10 years and yet, yesterday!
Hi, shipmates!
Hey, it’s turning into a reunion thread! :-)
I get it that there are some good things about Texas, especially the patiotism of so many people there, and its conservative outlook toward government. However, it is just too darn hot there. I’m staying in California for now and, if I move later, it will be to a cooler and more appealing place. Yes, I have spent plenty of time in Texas.
San Antonio is also a fine place to live.”
I understand there is a move underway to make San Antonio a sanctuary city.
Hard to see how 2 or 4 years as a county supervisor would benefit a bank account drained by 6 years in the Assembly, but, I hope he makes a bundle in Texas.
I don’t know...my kids are at Ft. Sam...they just love San Antonio...
I’m not saying that San Antonio is not a delightful place. We love LaCantera and all the beautiful golf courses. But we don’t go to Fiesta Texas any more or the River Walk-just like being in Mexico- and I did read an article where one of the city officials, perhaps the mayor wanted to make San Antonio a sanctuary city.
What took him so long? I left in ‘94.
