VANITY- Why does GOP "Elite" hate Cain?
scrippsnews ^ | 10/14/2011 | cookies4ever

This is my very first post after a decade+ of reading FR online so if I've made a formatting error, please forgive me. What is the GOP "elite" problem with Herman Cain? He's a legitimate candidate with great conservative plans. He's had no political experience, but why is that a bad thing? What career politician has accomplished what Mr. Cain has? Why do O'Reilley, Hannity, Rove, etc. hold Mr.Cain with such contempt? What do they fear...or...do they just swallow the left's pablum that Romney is the only viable candidate--and the only GOP candidate that Obama "fears" which is total BS!!!

He's had no political experience, but why is that a bad thing?

Look at the flip side: Why is it a bad thing to be elevated to CEO if you've never worked in a business? Politics is an extremely tricky business, and a person without experience in it will quickly have his head handed to him. Even Reagan made some blunders, especially TEFRA.

Some people learn fast. Sarah Palin made a couple inexperienced blunders running for VP, but now I'd say she's a political master. To his credit, Cain is doing pretty well in his campaign, but he isn't in the lion's den of the presidency. Maybe he can handle it, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable if he'd been a governor for a few years.

Tell you what.

YOU stop with the stupid smear attacks against Cain and we will give you a break.

Instead of lying about Cain, try telling us why we should support your candidate?

Ah but you cannot can you? That is the problem with you American idol, Perry worshiping Cult of Personality posters, you cannot actually make any rational case FOR your guy, you can only slander the other candidates.

but the ones I read criticized his policy ideas and experience, not him.

Then you are the only one cause the ONLY thing being posted about Cain are hysteric emotion based smear attacks. Have yet to read one rational, fact base critic of Cain on here.

If not Cain, who?

Yesterday, I read about that wind farm project in Oregon that Rush talked about on his show. The article is on National Review.

Anyway this wind farm project is another huge money laundering scheme for the Obama administration and GE is the owner of the project, but we, the tax payers are paying for it. $16.3 million per job. It only created 35 jobs. This is typical of wind projects, but this is a very large one.

Now, I’ve been thinking that these wind farms are not being built in a vacuum. Republicans in DC know about these project and the subsidies that go with them. Why are we just hearing about it now??? Even Joe Biden and Carol Browner were opposed to the subsidies.

This is what we are up against, both parties are complicit.

"Because he has not paid his dues. What did he do in 2008 or 2010??"

Actually, this is a question for Romney? Cain was out at Tea Party events fighting porkulus and fighting ObamaCare. Where was Romney?

Romney has had one cause. And that cause is Romney.

It's Romney, who has a chance to lose the election, he's the love child of McCain and Kerry the Flip-Flopper.

Hey, I like Cain!

How did the "enterprise zones" work out for Reagan and Kemp? I'm honestly curious.

We've thrown money/incentives at groups/zones/segments for a long time and I just don't see how it has paid off.

I haven’t heard any “hatred” of Cain, either from the media and Pubbies, or much if any here on FR. I’ve heard a lot of doubt that he can win without money or organization from the former, plus a lot of specific criticism on FR of specifics, like his horrible (IMHO) 999 plan. For hatred on FR just go to a Perry thread.

The GOP elites that I refer to include: Rove, Rush Krautheimer and many other politcal pundits on
Fox News. Give Mr. Cain his due! I just don’t understand why political experience is so important....policians are renowned for their lack of actual results. And when they point to Mr.Cain’s lack of foreign policy experience, I’d ask for any presidential candidate’s (other than Bush 41) with any foreign policy experience!

Establishment Republicans are what they have always been, ideological descendants of Hamilton and Clay. They look upon government as a vehicle to propel various insider business deals whether it is the ‘American System’ with subsidy pork for canal and turnpike construction or the Pacific Railroad and its vast cornucopia of graft and theft or Export/Import Bank subsidizing export of US industrial jobs. At best these people are ‘business conservatives’ which means they are all for lower taxes and limited regulatory interference in business operations. Ever since the triumph of the Party of Lincoln the GOP has counted on the ref, exive support of millions of white middle class Americans due to some real things such as support of lower taxes and a lot of phony flag waving rhetoric to smoke screen the real economic agenda f the party leadership(get elected, network with other politicians irrespective of party, and pass legislation that campaign contributors tell the politicos they want passed. The emergence of the Tea Party and non fake conservatives like John Rhodes or Halleck or Bob Dole enrages and terrifies the party insiders. The GOP version of the rat party black vote is wising up to the scam and are stampeding off the elephant plantation. The GOP professionals hate any sort of real grass roots movement as they can’t order it about and they loath the challenge to the morally debased beltway culture that thus movement threatens. Cain is just the poster boy for their disdain, hatred, and fear. This is just the start of a very long struggle and the Tea Party people have to undertabd thus is a protracted conflict and their opponents are professional liars devoid of scruples and basic ethics.

Same reason they ‘hate’ Perry I guess, because they always hate anyone in the top 3 unless their name is Romney.

You’re right....the GOP elite probably don’t hate Cain, they just don’t think he can win. In my never to be humble opinion, no one can win BUT him! BTW, I really like Bachmann, but she lost me in the last several weeks.

Today Rush talked about something Eric Holder said referring to black people and Obama's election. Holder said it was "our turn to put our people into positions of power."

Republican Politicians are looking for their turn. They know they'll get it from Romney. Cain is his own man and they know that too. They fear that they will lose their turn.

Hey AM by sickoflibs (Cain :”My parents didn’t raise me to beg the government for other peoples money”)

Great post!! You’re right! I just gave Cain a few $$. As I see it, that’s the only way we can show our support...and he needs the $$. The update on fundraising I saw tonight looks pretty grim for Cain. It looks like the $$ is going to the RINO Romney
