The editors have it just right on the CLASS Act. The administrations latest Friday night bombshell was really no surprise at all. (The massive deficit announcement tonight surely couldnt have surprised anyone either, though I certainly have to admit that getting involved in a war in Uganda is one I didnt see coming.)
Just about every conservative critic of Obamacare pointed to the irrational design of the CLASS Act before the legislations enactment. In fact, the administrations own CMS actuary said it would never work. He was ignored by his employers not because they disagreed with him, but because they needed to pretend their legislation would reduce the deficit. The CBOs scoring methodology could be manipulated to accept a lot of implausible assumptions, but even with those the legislation needed help, and by designing the CLASS Act to start collecting premiums five years before it would start paying benefits (and counting those premiums as deficit reduction even though they would eventually need to be paid out in benefits) they were able to make the program seem to be in the black by $70 billion in its first ten years, which accounted for about half of the overall deficit reduction the Democrats claimed.

When can we expect the lamestream media to criticize Obama for “rushing to war?”
I think it’s ironic that Obama has quite possibly started more wars than anyone in the history of the US, but he recieved the nobel peace prize.
lol
affirmative action, dont ya love it!
This is a classic example of a RED HERRING.
The Administration has taken out the expenses in calculating the costs of Obamascare but they are still keeping the money ‘to be collected’ in the asset column. A scam to show a less debacle of a terrible bill.
This is just part of the total plan to screw the tax payers (can’t remember what per cent of us that represents).
wag the dog
I’m missing something here and need some help. Obamacare was passed, it’s the law of the land. How does the administration just strike part of that law without a vote of Congress?
Found the answer to my question above at AOSHQ:
“ObamaCare actually made the execution of this law contingent on the Secretary of Health and Human Services certifying it to be financially sound, which she is not so certifying it. So that’s why the executive gets to un-do a law, in case you were wondering...”
Everything the critics said Obamacare would cause is coming true, and more...even more quickly than expected. A lot of times these programs can have the appearance of working before the house of cards starts to fall.
