Cain goes right after Romney in heated campaign
The Boston Herald ^ | Sunday, October 16, 2011 | Hillary Chabot

Posted on 10/15/2011 10:13:14 PM PDT by Republican Wildcat

A pumped-up Herman Cain is promising a rock ’em, sock ’em takedown of Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney, saying he’s already got the Bay State governor on the run and can deliver a knockout at Tuesday night’s debate because voters “can’t get excited about (Romney’s) leadership.”

“He got a little defensive last time, so he knows Herman is going to come after him,” Cain said during a phone interview with the Herald yesterday. “We are in a contest here. We are in a battle.”

Cain, who has surged to the front of the crowded Republican presidential pack, already locked on to Romney during a debate at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., last week. The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO asked Romney to name all of the 59 points in his economic recovery plan.

Romney struck back, telling Cain that sometimes “simple answers are inadequate.”

Cain said the unsatisfying response was “snippy and dismissive,” and said he will push Romney on his overly complex 160-page plan again at an upcoming debate in Nevada.

“I’m going after Romney only on his economic plan because that’s where he is a little weak,” Cain said. “I think it kind of caught him off guard a little bit. The problem with his 59-point plan is you’re talking about something that’s never going to pass.”

Cain’s Republican rivals have made the same charge against the Georgian’s famous 9-9-9 plan, which would eliminate different tax rates and implement a flat 9 percent tax on corporations, incomes, and sales. Voters in states where there is no sales tax, such as New Hampshire, would reject a sudden 9 percent hike, argued former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, another Republican presidential candidate.

“They are making an invalid comparison,” said Cain of the criticism. “It is a replacement tax for...

Cain is not attacking in a way and manner that would help Perry. THAT is the crux of why Perry folks say “he’s a plant for Romney.”

It’s Cains’ campaign, he’ll run it in a way that helps him, thank you very much. It’s worked thus far and quite well.

“Bachmann has stayed “above the fray”

BS, Bachmann destroyed her chances with her hysteria on Gardisil and retardation.

Cain: Romney not a ‘staunch conservative’

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2793447/posts

“I don’t think he’s a staunch conservative because he’s changed his position on too many things over the years. The other thing is, if you just look at Romneycare in Massachusetts, no matter how much he tries to pretend that it was supposed to be good for Massachusetts, a conservative would never have signed that Romneycare legislation in Massachusetts.”

How’s that?

That is, if you had read what I was responding to, Bachmann has kept “above the fray” in the same way Cain has: kid gloves for Romney, brass knuckles for, for example, Perry. (Though Perry is an incredibly easy target himself.)

Remember, Cain said he wouldn’t serve on a Perry ticket.

Yep, It's obvious Cain is in the tank for Romney, just another stalking horse to keep Perry from his rightful place.........

I don’t care whose ticket Cain would serve on or not. Frankly, I can’t see him as VP to anyone. I think Romney would ask Newt, I think Perry would ask Romney.

Or maybe Rudy.

Who got in the race last after it was clear Romney was not going to get any appreciable support from social conservatives?

Who did the GOP Establishment push into the race after it seem Tea Party heroine Bachmann was going to upset Romney’s ride to the nomination?

Who does the GOP Establishment see as their back up card if Romney fails?

Who has long standing intimate ties with the Liberal wing of the GOP Establishment?

The answer is Rick Perry.

Bill Kristol to a NY Time Reporter telling him how the GOP Establishment plans to deal with “the Tea party mutiny”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2792217/posts?page=3

Kristol told me just after Perry entered the race, a development that essentially ended [the more radical Michele] Bachmann’s brief ascent. Establishment Republicans may prefer Romney to Perry, but their assumption is that either man can be counted on to steer the party back toward the broad center next fall, effectively disarming the Tea Party mutiny.

Wonder who Perry will be VP with?

Odd how that question never gets asked of Perry.

Could it be because everyone knows Perry is the GOP Establishment mole in the race to split the Tea Party/Conservative vote and hand the nomination to Romney?

Could it be because they know the ticket the GOP Machine is setting up is “Romney/Perry 2012? Think about it. Romney has the money, Perry has the idolatrous worship from the social Conservatives.

Could that be why the Perry camp is knowingly lying about Cain’s solidly Conservative record on both social and fiscal issues? Because they know full well Perry’s record can not stand close scrutiny?

What does anyone really know about Perry other then the nice words and platitudes he puts in his speeches? Looks like Perry is just Bush 3.0 another tough talking social conservative who will go to DC and be yet another good little GOP crony capitalist water boy.

Instead of running back to PerryHQ to find out the next lie you are to post about Cain, how about you finally ANSWER the questions?

My point isn’t really getting down to who would serve on some (losing) Perry ticket, it is that Cain’s pattern is very much like Bachmann’s: pay more attention to selling a book than actually building a campaign organization, treat Romney with kid gloves while going after his competitors, and help to fracture the conservative vote.

Cain is my preference of the candidates running, but he sure has the mark of someone who was nudged into the race by Romney’s men.

I agree with you. Perry is the GOP Establishment’s safety bet. This whole race is rigged, in case you haven’t noticed.

Cain needs to strike some kind of deal with Santorum and Bachmann. He needs to debate Romney one on one without those other two carrying Mitts water like surrogates.

Perry reminds me of McCain even more considering he’s even worse on illegal immigration which should make him unacceptable to Conservatives. He’s not better than Romney. They are both crap, but people seem to think Perry still has a chance, and is a front runner when he’s not any longer because people stopped supporting him when his treasonous immigration policy came to light. He’s done and has less of a chance at winning than guys like Gingrich. People need to get behind Cain now that Perry is done, and can’t be brought back no matter how many post there are talking about him as if he’s not in the single digits, when he isn’t even the distant third candidate. he has less of a chance than Ron Paul at this point. People can’t honestly think all those supporters he lost will suddenly decide that his support for illegal immigration isn’t a problem and switch back over to him. It won’t happen because most voters have something he lacks which are Conservative beliefs and principles that don’t allow supporting people and issues that will destroy the nation unless stopped instead of rewarded and encouraged by the bleeding heart liberal Perry who doesn’t need the 20+ points the heartless Conservatives took with them for good.

People are still acting like he’s up there with Romney and Cain, but he’s had a very dramatic and comical drop in the polls that can’t be recovered from without time traveling to the past to change his illegal immigrant pandering which he would do in a second if possible considering he’s a career politician with no core beliefs beyond winning elections the same as Romney, even though they are completely out of touch with the people these days making it harder than normal to use their lack of principle to be everything to everyone.

Perry sounds like he finally read a book about the Revolutionary war so he could start pretending he’s the same kind of person as our founding fathers even though he seems confused about when the war took place, and if he had been born in that time would probably have ran off to England after doing something treasonous like providing the British in his colony with supplies since it would be heartless for them to do without.

Cain the TALKER has no record on fiscal and social issues he has only TALKING and rhetoric. It is not anymore between the establishment and non establishment of the Republican Party. It is between those who want to vote for someone who has a governing record to judge him with versus the RED MEAT crowds/CRAZIES who want to vote for someone with no governing record but gives them the stupid red meat bumper sticker rhetoric.

Sorry, but your response rings tinny with me. For you to be satisfied would be political overreach for him. The last thing Cain needs to do is Bachmann-ize himself.
