ALBUQUERQUE, NM (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Florida Sen. Marc Rubio are popular, relative political newcomers in presidential battleground states.

The rising GOP stars are also Hispanics, something the Republican Party makes no secret of hoping to capitalize on in the upcoming national elections.

I wonder how the liberal quoted as saying "giving them the tools to prosper in this tough economy” defines that sentiment and whom she blames. Barney Frank, Pelosi, Obama?

These Hispanic politicians give lie to the liberal idea that the GOP is racist and bigoted.

Governors Jindal of Louisiana, and Haley of South Carolina, both of whom are descended from Indians(from India)also give lie to the liberal idea that the GOP is the party of whites, but that any racial/ethnic minority should find their political home in the Democrat party.

Herman Cain is a powerful example of the liberal lie that any member of a minority group should be Democrat, due to Republican bigotry.

In what way? Everybody wants to feel welcome in their political party, and the GOP unfortunately gives the impression of not being very welcoming and in fact possibly even anti-Hispanic. This is usually referred to as “anti-illegal immigration,” although the only “illegals” they ever mention are Hispanics, and to them any Hispanic is by definition “illegal” until it can be proved otherwise. I wouldn’t feel very welcome in that party either, if I were Hispanic.

So these Latino success stories make it clear that being Hispanic is no barrier to being part of the party of conservative principles.

Ths thread article is leftist spin...spin...spin...hardly a factually based treatment of the headline subject, and what the article means is that the GOP is indeed making inroads into the Hispanic electorate:

Many of these politicians are for ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ which is the code phrase for amnesty, Romney being one of them.

It’s interesting to note that neither the Indian nor Hispanic populations at large lash out at conservatives from their communities the way blacks do to people like Cain, Rice, Thomas, Janice Rogers Brown, et al.

It strongly suggests that the prevailing sentiment among those other minority populations is not to be threatened by conservatives in their communities. The black community, however, led by the nose by the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, and lied to by plantation writers like Leonard Pitts, Clarence Page, Charles Blow, Bob Herbert, believes it has something to lose with the rise of black conservatives.

Martinez would be a GREAT VEEP candidate if a conservative wins the nod. If Romney wins the nod, he could resurrect Reagan and I still would not vote for him.
