VIDEO: Cornel West arrested protesting outside the Supreme Court

Princeton Professor Cornel West, one of the most outspoken supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement, was arrested Sunday in front of the Supreme Court while protesting corporate power.

“We want to bear witness today that we know the relation between corporate greed and what goes on too often in the Supreme Court decisions,” West said to the Supreme Court protesters over a megaphone.

“We want to send a lesson to ourselves, to our loved ones, our families, our communities, our nation, and the world that out of deep love for working and poor people that we are willing to put what ever it takes — even if we get arrested today — and say ‘We will not allow this day of Martin Luther King Jr.’s memorial today to go without somebody going to jail.’”

"....that out of deep love for working and poor people...."

His love is for a system that would have everyone working for the government and utterly dependent on that gov't from cradle to grave.

What you describe is called slavery. The irony is probably lost to him.

I hate what this guy espouses, but damn...I didn’t see him doing anything illegal.

Arresting them is what they want. Let them make a fool of themselves, but I don’t support arresting throwing someone in jail over this.

Protesting corporate power? Isn’t Princeton a corporate power?

This is just practise run for the race riots and public unrest that will be launched in 2012, starting in the spring and running thru the summer to the Nov elections.

We are in the last days of preparation. It is time to start getting a move on if one has not started.

I think the southern states will have less time. I don’t believe they will have to wait until spring.

Bugout bags in the car/truck, backroad plans to get to safety...on a map...no GPS stuff it will be shut-down! Pets planned for travel too. No more empty gas tanks, keep’em full...

You better get yourself some extra gas cans and keep them full.

When people start fleeing the cities, they are like locust consuming everything in their path. Saw it first hand with hurricane Rita.

There simply isn’t enough fuel in the small towns to supply the demand.

As long as protestors are not obstructing business, I see no reason for police to harass them.

There can be no communists “occupying” the Surpreme Court like they are doing in NY. But a reasonable protest that is not treatening anyone, should be no big deal. But, we don’t really have a constitution anymore - it means whatever the “rulers” in the government says it means and they are above the law by virtue of the authority. Pretty disgusting and something I hope the Tea Party is focused upon.
