Actually, P-F said 40% of the new jobs, not wells. Companies like Tenaris and Dril-Quip are doing a good amount of hiring down in Houston, from what I have seen, in the deepwater market. That equipment goes all over the country, so things Texans make go to other states for operations. But on a bigger point, P-F did not limit the jobs created to just oil patch, as you tried to twist it to. Texas has a very strong Accounting Center in Dallas, two financial centers in Dallas and San Antonio, and the deepwater drilling capital of the world in Houston. Part of the reason for this is the friendly business climate, like right to work status. There is a reason Toyota came here to build an assembly plant.

BTW, are you a member of a union? Your posts have a distinct union apologist tone to them.

Spot on analysis FRiend.

Service jobs and technological advancements in the Oil industry are being centered in Texas. The company I work for, was born and bred in the great state of Texas.

Jealousy, is a hard thing to live down for some, it seems.

There is a reason that Perry gave his speech on a loading platform of a steel company in Pennsylvania. The oil patch uses lots and lots of steel. There are miles of drill string, plus couplings, nipples, blowout preventers and on and on for each well. Then there is the steel needed for the gathering pipelines and then even more for the transport pipelines. There are lots of jobs related to the oil patch which are not in the oil patch.

Then when the price of gas, diesel, heating oil, etc. goes down so does inflation and the cost of living for everyone.

Perry needs to expand his presentation a little to include all that.
