'I don't want to hide that part of my life anymore': ABC News anchor comes out live on air

He only came out as gay yesterday, but already Zachary Quinto has inspired another public figure to follow in his footsteps.

ABC News anchor Dan Kloeffler, reporting on the actor's candid weekend interview about his sexuality, revealed he too is gay as he joked about dating Hollywood star.

Both men have said they decided to speak out after a spate of teenage suicides among gay youth.

Kloeffler's tone on air was light-hearted. 'He's 34, I'm 35, I'm thinkin' I could lose my distraction about dating actors for that one', he mused during his World News Now report on Quinto.

Kloeffler later explained on the ABC News website: 'For the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life.

'As a journalist, I don't want to be the story, but as a gay man I don't want to stand silent if I can offer some inspiration or encouragement to kids that might be struggling with who they are.'

“He’s 34, I’m 35”

These people are so sick.

Quinto is from Pittsburgh. Nice family. I wonder what they think of this?

If I went around telling people at my workplace my sexual orientation (an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality) I would prbably be fired for innapropriate conduct in a workplace.

Why are gays allowed to discuss sex in the workplace?

I demand equal treatment (fire his ass) or I will scream discrimination.

I have a confession that the whole world needs to hear. I’m not sure why its so important but apparently it is.

I cripplecreek have never been attracted to another man. I have known since I was a teenager that I was attracted to females. This has continued throughout my life and has caused me considerable pain (and pleasure)

So, what was the hang up? Is a 34 year old guy about 30 years too old for you?

—Both men have said they decided to speak out after a spate of teenage suicides among gay youth. —

This is about the “it gets better” movement.

search it at youtube and, for extra fun, include the word “Pixar”.

I’ve been hammering them off and on with comments.

I never call them gay. I call them homosexuals and lesbians. And if I’m feeling especially frisky I’ll call the male ones sodomists.

This move by the homosexuals to validate the gay lifestyle assumes that among gay teens is because of anti-gay bullying.

Its more likely that most suicides are because the kids do not want to be part of the lifestyle they're prone to.

In which case all this encouragement coming from older gays is actually more responsible for the suicides than is bullying.

No. Of course not. If there's anything journalists eschew, it's attention.

Actually the original Spock was asexual. Kirk and Sulu made up for it.

Same here, I’m trying to remove “gay” from my vocabulary. It’s funny how “homosexual” really gets the leftists visibly irked. I wonder why that is...

This guy is the personification of Phil Hendrie’s character, Doug Dannger, who often starts his sentences with: “I’m a gay man and a gay journalist ...”
