WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he should not have stayed silent after the audience at a GOP debate booed a gay soldier serving in Iraq.
The Georgia businessman told ABC's "This Week" that it would have been "appropriate" for him to have defended the soldier. None of the candidates on stage at the Sept. 22 forum responded to the boos.
"In retrospect, because of the controversy it has created and because of the different interpretations that it could have had, yes, that probably -- that would have been appropriate," Cain said, when asked if he should have asked the audience to respect the soldier.

It’s okay Herman. Your not getting the homo vote anyway.
Or maybe this whole thread is trying to paint Cain as some kind of moderate on Homosexuality.

Are you trying to silence the lambs? I did not see the article before and whether or not it was posted we are all looking for the best candidate for the job. Main duty of the president is to serve as commander in chief. I do not like defending a gay that was probably a plant..period. Cain’s words were that he should have defended him from the boos. You can’t deny or spin that fact. I want every candidate running to be veted through and through...my vote matters to me.
This article is from two weeks ago and was already discussed here.
From the article:
Cain said, I happen to think that maybe they were booing the whole dont ask, dont tell repeal more so than booing that soldier.
When asked if he should have asked the audience to respect the soldier, Cain said, In retrospect, because of the controversy it has created and because of the different interpretations that it could have had, yes, that probably that would have been appropriate
_______
So which part do you all disagree with that Cain said he didnt think they WERE booing the soldier? Or the part that he should have asked the audience to respect a soldier?
This article was already on FR, I am silencing nothing.
I merely quoted Cain’s own words. After all, we are about vetting him right? Are we about the TRUTH or are you just trying to smear him?
Look, no offense, but it _is_ old news. If we were to go ahead and post articles that are up to two weeks old, we’d be inundated.
Once again...I have to ask..why did Rainbow Push endorse Cain for the Georgia senate seat? they never endorse a conservative..black or white..do you know? do you envision Rainbow Push endorsing any other conservative candidate running for any office in 2012?
Yes, their desperation is showing. LOL
I am posting the facts...if you want to gloss it over..that is your problem. Whether it is Romney, Newt, Bachmann, Perry or Paul...I would post it.
I think it’s the part where he thinks it’s his job to be a nanny to the audience.
Or maybe the part where he admits they were booing the question, but says they should still be chastized for not respecting the soldier.
Or maybe it’s the part where Cain wants to be President, but thinks he gets do-overs whenever he thinks of a better thing to do later.
Cain needs to stop all the backpedaling. It’s not going unnoticed and it is looking like a trend. Not good.
Maybe they were trying to damage him?
Looks to me you are just out to smear Cain. Here you are with all the other anti-Cain talking points:

Smart move. It is early yet and the game is really just beginning. I am curious as to why the Rainbow PUSH Coalition backed Cain when he ran for Senate in Georgia...uneasy about Cains support of Tarp and also he still believes the govt should play a role in affirmative action...I need more info...also, Cain does not support audits of the fed reserve

I personally thought Cain handled the controversy fine. I think the audience was in fact booing the repeal of DADT and not the soldier. Republicans dont boo soldiers...democrats do...and spit on them as well.
why did Rainbow Push endorse him? I still want to know..if you view that as a smear you are the one with a problem...I dont vote blind
I thought it was great!
Have you seen this?
