Classic.
On the conference call for Wynn Resorts, CEO Steve Wynn went on a big rant on Occupy Wall Street, Obama, and deficits.
Here are our notes in raw form. It's all mostly paraphrased.
In a nutshell, he says:
Deficits are killing us, our dollars are worthless, and the Democrats are bankrupting the country and vilifying anyone who's successful. So naturally, people are protesting.
It's very interesting about the folks who are occupying Wall Street.
That group is quite diverse.
There are people in there who think the government should give them more just because they are alive.
There are people who are opposing government spending.
That group is not homogeneous.
What you do have is anxiety and fear that is endemic in the United States of America... due to the government.
I am watching my employees standard of living due to deficits.
The public is making the connection between deficits and their standard of living.
They're seeing their wages go to 80 cent dollars to 70 cent dollars.
I have not been able to keep up with the effect of deficits.
You're seeing that on Occupy Wall Street.
You're seeing it taken to the next level in Greece.
People are trying to break into a parliament primarily controlled by the Unions. There comes a moment when the population realizes that it has to stop.
Rich people are now being defined by the administration as people who make $1 million dollars
Well, most of the businesses in America other than giant corporations are paying taxes under partnerships or S corporations.
One side is right, and one side is wrong. You can not sustain these levels of deficits. The Democrats are bankrupting this country.

Go, Wynn, Go! Time for the American people to speak up about these liberal, socialist, marxist, communist, politicians.
Sounds like common sense to me, but, as they say, “Common sense isn’t all that common.” Last time around in the presidential vote, 53 % chose O and it isn’t all that clear he can’t win again particularly if Romney gets the nod.
Neocon: a liberal that got mugged......welcome home, Mr. Wynn.........
wow. It’s about time someone in a position to be heard is saying something like this.
Open your checkbook.
He ripped Obama in Detroit last year as well. The powerful suffer a fool president more than I can fathom.
And yet there are idiots who think that this half white guy and his smokin Joe partner are doing a good job and should be re-elected? The American citizens had damn well better wake up and smell the democrat take down of this country.....
Today Harry Reid said that public sector jobs need to be stimulated??? Wake up America.....
You now see the results.
vaudine
I dunno .. not too keen on Wynn’s empire being based on gambling, for moral reasons .. but he makes quite a few valid points in his ‘rant’
Steve Wynn supported Harry Reid in 2010.
Have a nice day.
The hippie buffoons are protesting because their dollars just don’t buy as much weed as they used to.
From what I’ve read Mr Wynnn has received many millions in US taxpayer handouts called economic development in NJ and likely elsewhere. They all talk up and about tightening strings on spending except when they are on the receiving side. Wynnn and his gambling meccas plays both ends against the taxpayer and he gets cronies in government to use eminent domain.

He talks but all I hear is hypocrisy. Free market capitalism means no government handouts to special connected businesses, period.
yes.
Thanks. I was just gonna say “Steve who???”
Figures. Business insider blog. Can’t figure out the fascination folks around here have for it.
I’m not seeing anything in this column except a stream of consciousness. What exactly, if I may ask, is so incisive about what this guy, whoever he is, is saying?
In fact, I’m not seeing anything even coherent, let alone incisive.
I’ll admit, it could just be me.
I know I’m beating this to death, but you posted this without even commenting. So I’ll ask you: What nuggets of gold are you finding in this column?
The Democrats are bankrupting this country!
Oh for sure!
I just didn’t see anything particularly enlightening in this guy’s stream of consciousness. In fact, I saw a lot of equivocating. The same Tea Party equals Occupy crap I’ve seen from a lot of commentators.
