“Hold on to your hat, With Perry bombing and Cain moving up Cain is getting lots of attention he didn't get before. He has to watch any questions he gets closely and study up for the next debate on foreign policy. That could be his Waterloo if not careful.”

Agreed...so I hope he is doing a few things:

1. Getting Organized at the grassroots level. Right now it is organize, organize, organize! That is IF he now believes he can actually win. If he doesn't get anymore organized in the next two weeks than he is now I think we will have to begin to question his actual commitment.

2. Begin to praise the fact that 999 brought about great discussion about the tax code and begin to more clearly state how this could be a stepping stone to flat tax. Or else find an incredibly simple way to describe it.

3. Pick up Ron Paul's idea (I hate to say this but when the man is right...) to CUT federal spending. Agree with Paul and state as much so and begin to put it out there.

4. Get with advisers to drill him, educate him and push him on foreign affairs every single day on every issue. They will give Obama a pass for not knowing the name of the President of Kazakhstan, but not Cain. He needs to know details on obscure issues as well as have plans for critical issues.

5. Wear the target proudly and take on both the political AND media machines, and begin to come out as the populace candidate...the candidate of the people. Start talking about WHY his message is resonating with the American People, and why they are seeing him as someone they can support. Cain can be a grassroots candidate that goes beyond the political and media machines...but he needs to get up on his surf board RIGHT NOW and ride the wave.

You’ve heard that a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Well, RuPaul is more like an out-of-control clock. He’s right more often, but you still can’t trust him to tell the right time.

There is no kindness in kicking someone when they’re down.

People who do that must have no heart.

All Cain ever wanted was to run interference for his friend, Mitt Romney. From the beginning, he was auditioning for VP, even said so.

He never said such a thing, you're just making stuff up.

Seesh, how idiotic and uninformed do you think we are? It's insulting.

This is what was said in an interview with National Journal...

“Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said on Thursday that he would definitely consider an invitation to run as the eventual nominee’s vice president, except if the nominee turns out to be Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Cain, who rocketed to the top tier of the GOP field in several recent polls, was asked by reporters on the campaign trail for his thoughts on a hypothetical invitation to run as the eventual nominee’s No. 2.”

Here’s the entire article http://www.nationaljournal.com/2012-presidential-campaign/cain-says-he-would-not-be-comfortable-as-perry-s-running-mate-20111006

I can’t find where he said specifically he would be Mitt’s #2 but said he would be willing to be VP for ANY of the candidates except Perry. Seems like Cain wants to serve his country and will do it as #1 if Elected and would be willing to be #2 if invited.

That’s very different than ‘auditioning for VP’.

All the candiate up there would probably be avaiable for VP if they didn’t get the top slot.

I would support Ron Paul over the liberal Rick Perry and his type. He's at least good on most of the domestic issues. I think he belongs in the party more than all the liberal Republicans we have in the party who have a lot more power than Paul.

What's funny about this is there were many people back in 2008 who were supporting Ron Paul, but their second choice was Obama. It was on a different site I visit sometimes, and it was funny seeing people try to explain things to them about the difference. There were a surprising amount of them also, but you could tell they were just following trends and probably forgot about everything to do with politics the day after the election; if they were still interested by then. That's what you get when you suddenly pick up the votes of people who have never voted before like Obama and Paul did back then. Just imagine how many votes Obama got from people who had no idea whatsoever about anything in politics. It's kind of scary people that stupid/ignorant can decide an election. Actually being informed and still voting for him is worse.

Considering that Mexico is our most destructive enemy, shows how ignorant and careless a lot Republicans are on national security and foreign policy. If Herman Cain addresses the border seriously he will have done more for the defensive, and continued survival, of the United States than Bush,or any other President in years.

I don't agree with Paul's foreign policy, but I do think it's about time for us to stop fighting wars. We don't fight to win anymore like we did in WW2. We have ridiculously long wars, that cost ridiculous amounts of money these days. If a war is really important enough to for us to fight then we need to use the might of our military to get a quick and decisive victory, instead of a war that last 10+ years.

Next time Perry counsels California on how not to go completely tits-up, he will be POTUS and a position to do something about saving California.

You are delusional. Perry is DONE. It is over. He will not be President of the United States. The American people woke up to his liberalism and turned off their support. He is basically a single digit candidate. He doesn’t have support enough to be President. How you can support a single digit candidate is crazy with 74 days left until the primaries start. Where will this support pop up from????? Once your reputation is damaged it is next to impossible to get it back. Even the folks in Texas does rank him number one. That is pathetic that Perry cannot get at least Texas.

Definitely, Romney seems slick and untrustworthy to many. He is the frontrunner in the media and has the finances to get his name out but to the educated republican, many don’t like him.

Rick Perry also has his own Jeremiah Wright: Robert Jeffries, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, who has made critical remarks toward Mormons (a super solid pro-GOP group that dominate Utah and are influential in several other Western states) and Catholics (25% of the US population and well represented in swing states like Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio).

These voter groups have had a history of persecution by Protestants. The Mormons were hounded out of the United States and migrated to Utah, then under Mexican rule. Catholics, along with Jews, were the primary target of the 1920s Ku Klux Klan in the North and West.

No one can win the White House when you alienate almost 30% of the nation's population. Perry would be best off folding up his tent and returning to Austin.

No offense but this poll is not scientifically based from a strict standard of statistics.

Secondly, they spell Jon Huntsman's name wrong making me believe these are probably college students doing a project for Poly Sci 101...

And for the record I am a Herman Cain supporter and have been getting petitions signed in IL for Cain to get him on the ballot thanks to Romney and Perry moving all the primaries up. So please don't attack me as a RINO supporter.

Just coming at this as a pure scientific observer that this poll is as legitimate as if I asked my dog who she supported in the primary. She'd even probably get Huntsman's name right.

I agree about Palin’s “vote” going to Cain.

However, this poll is “Republicans vs. each other in Texas” and not “Perry vs. Obama in Texas”. Perry may be losing to many other Republicans in Texas but it does not logically follow that Perry would lose Texas to Obama.

the concept of Iraqi, and Afghani, freedom is a hoax. Won’t ever happen in the lands of Islam. No way no how. I know freepers get this.

You are right. Most Freepers get this, but many of them don't really want to admit it.

Cain is also doing very well in recent PPP polling - and that’s considered by many to be a “Democratic” pollster:
